Interview with Jimmy Amatngali

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: In 2008, I made music for a gymnastic from Egypt and she went to the Olympic Games with it. The proces was incredible because the arrangement of the song and building the floor routine went hand-in-hand. Every move she made on the floor was in different ways supported by the music and vice versa.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Beats and full productions

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not yet but I hope to meet a lot of mindlike people via this platform!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital all the way. Why? Because it gives me way more possibilities then analog.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: No cure no pay. I only want satisfied clients. If my client is not happy with the result, it's not my client.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love putting my emotions in music. It's my world and I can make/bend/break all the rules.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Can you make this type of beat/music? Answer: yes!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it doesn't take a lot of time or energy. For years, I've put a lot of time and energy into learning my craft and style.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What do you want to feel when you hear the final song? Do you want me to experiment or use a known formula?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be totally open with me, I can handle all forms of criticism. I think this is super important since I want to satisfy my customers as much a possible.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Laptop, keyboard, soundcard, headphones and Subpac. It's actually all I need ;-)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been making music since I was a kid. Then I started up saving for my studio gear and learned how to design all the sounds I have in my head. My music has been all around the world with the Olympic games of 2008 as my biggest achievement.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Filthy and hard. This is what I love the most, but I can also ease on down to clean and soft.
