my name is Pascal Molenaar and I own a studio in Gorinchem Holland. Mainly I record my own creations because I simply love to make music. I focus on the songs for my band The Deaf Dollars. Next to that I love to get involved into tracks or projects of other talented people. I can produce but also record, mix and master.
I am an active producer so I have a lot of thoughts and ideas which I will share with you when working on a track.
I have no limits when it comes to creativity or style.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am proud on every project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: the new album of my band and some old work I want to release

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: both because you should never stand still. Keep the old stuff that is good and combine it with the new stuff that is making you better.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I keep my word on what we agreed on
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: the creativity the freedom and the choice to have the people around me I want around me
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I have no idea I guess if I have time?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: it is easy
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I need to know what kind of music they want. I need to know if they have any examples. This only goes for music they need for an artist. If I work with the artist I need to have a conversation first.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: contact me I am a big fan of meeting on skype and having a conversation. I think it is the best way to get to know eachother before hiring.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: An Iphone to call for a rescue helicopter so it can drop me of at my studio. I love my studio and I prefer to work there.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I am making music since the age of 14 but the love for music was already at the age of 4 where I begged my mum and dad to buy me a LP record of Shakin' Stevens
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A mix of everything. I do not like to adjust to one style kinda like bruce lee :)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with artists that are serious and put everything they have in a song. I do not care if you are famous or not.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I always need to play a verse or chorus with muting some instruments if the song still feels strong you got a good song!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: mostly rock pop and funk
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I guess toplines and melody's some lyrics and singing itself
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: my mind creativity and heart.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't have any order I just start because I want to go where the start takes me. If I follow a set of rules or ways to start a song how do I get the essence of that song?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: well my studio is hybrid. So digital and analog mixed together. I like to record in the way I think of the moment of recording. So lets say I want to record guitar it would be possible I use it directly in my soundcard or plug it in an amp and record via mic's or I could plug it into my warm audio preamp. I do not want to set boundaries in my way of making art. same goes for DAW systems. I prefer to write in Ableton because of the speed of making pieces of music and glue them together. For mixing I like Protools and for movie or serie scores I like Cubase BUT then again it is all about how I feel that particular day and that particular moment when I start on something. My plugins are mostly waves, native instruments and UAD. I try to use as many different ones as I can to keep as much variety in my tracks. But like every engineer I got a few GOTO plugs of course. My speakers recently changed from DynAudio BM15 to Adam A77x. Apollo x4 soundcard, Icon pr X and 2 XS units for mixing because I like faders.
