Isaac is an engineer and producer who cut his teeth at the historic Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, working with artists such as Orville Peck, Frank Ocean and Shenseea. As a freelance engineer and producer based in Los Angeles Isaac has worked with established stars such as Yung Lean, as well as indie artists like Alex Casnoff and M'Lynn.

Hello! I am an engineer and producer based in Los Angeles, California. Whether it's cutting vocals in the studio, figuring out the arrangement or printing a final mix, I love helping artists bring the music that's in their head to fruition.

I have been lucky to work on a wide variety of genres from Country to Hip Hop to Indie-Pop and enjoy the music making process regardless of the style. I have a particular passion for working with bands and artists that enjoy the recording process, acoustic elements and experimentation.

As a songwriter myself, I understand the leap of faith it takes to hand off your art to someone else. I will treat your music with the respect it deserves and will not compromise on the end product. I look forward to working together!

Isaac was the tracking engineer for my debut album, Restless. I am beyond happy with how everything turned out. I've worked with multiple talented engineers in the same studio where Restless was recorded and no one was able to capture my sound or my bandmates' sounds with anywhere near the same level of clarity as Isaac. During each of the sessions, Isaac showed up early and was also willing to stay late. He's highly professional, easy to work with, and knows his stuff. 6/5 stars!

Isaac has engineered/mixed/mastered two EP’s for my band Lemon Wizard. He was professional and super easy to work with during every step of the process, and we were beyond happy with the final product! Would definitely recommend, Isaac knows his stuff!

Interview with Isaac Diskin

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: - Universal Audio 8p with large collection of UAD plugins. - Pro Tools - MacBook Pro - Focal Alpha Monitors - Selection of 500 Series analog hardware. - Guitar pedal board that I use as FX inserts in my mixes. Featuring pedals such as the EH Big Muff, Walrus Audio Julia, Ibanez Tube Screamer and Boss Digital Delay.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: - Multitrack mixing - Full production from demo to final mix.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been writing music since I was 12 years old, and recording since I was 14. I attended The Frost School of Music in Miami, after which I worked full time at the world-renown Criteria Recording Studios. Now, I reside in Los Angeles where I record, produce and mix for indie/rock/pop artists.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: On your average day you can find me recording and mixing for indie-rock groups and jazz artists. However my love for music has never been bound by genre and I regularly take up projects mixing hip-hop vocals, recording avant-garde classical pieces or co-producing pop tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is being able to take your creative vision and make it a reality. Regardless of how much technical knowledge you have I will be able to take your thoughts, hopes and ideas and translate them into a final product.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin's approach inspires me to always keep the artist and the song in the forefront. He reminds me to ask the question: "is this making the song better?". Andre 3000 is another whose originality and creativity inspires me to approach the unexpected with an open mind, as you never know what you might find.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Recently I had the pleasure of mixing the debut album, called Allegory, for one of the best songwriters out there, Alyce. Getting to be involved with music I love is always so special and there's nothing I love more than helping songwriters like her to bring their dreams to life.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently I am finishing up two jazz records I recorded earlier in the year, in the arranging and production stage of an EP for two different local indie-rock groups as well as mixing a variety of tracks for some great Hip Hop and RnB artists.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the ear of an engineer and a musician. Not only do I have a technical and analytical approach to polishing your music, I have been playing music my whole life and writing my own songs since I was ten. I want to make sure your creative vision stays in the forefront, and I am not afraid to think outside of the box in order to make that happen.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That engineering isn't an art!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does your final product look like? What is left to complete? What do you want from me? What is your timeline for this project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key! A good mixing/production relationship is a two way street.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to break the rules...once you know them.
