I$$A on SoundBetter

Hello, hallo, bonjour, salam! My name is Issa. As a mixing engineer, producer and keys player it is my goal to actualise your sonic ideas and vision.

At the age of 8 I took my first piano lessons in France and quickly realised that this was love at first sight.

Between the age of 15 and 24, I played in several bands and learned that the piano doesn't necessarily have to be a solo instrument. Therefore the decision to study musicology wasn't hard to make, but seemed rather like the next logical step.

During my studies I started working as a breakdance teacher and A&R-manager at an internationally operating music software company.

I partnered up with several audio engineers on different projects and was fascinated by their input. This is how I discovered my passion for the technical side of song production, especially the mixing process.

To envision someone's creative, musical or sonical idea, is what I truly strive for and what brings me joy.

That is roughly the journey of me and my love for the art forms of music and dance. And here we are, so I hope to see you soon on our next common project <3

Collaborating with Issa was incredibly focused and enthusiastic, he was friendly and treated me as an equal – always ready to contribute and at the same time unobtrusive. It was a pleasure to work in such a positive atmosphere, because it allowed us to concentrate on the essentials and achieve the best results creatively. He makes you feel so well taken care of that one can fully open up isolated in a safe and supportive environment.

I produced a very successful acoustic session with Issa. He works very precisely and professionally, so that I could fully concentrate on my musical performance. And the video is more than worth seeing in the end. Anytime again!

Working with Issa was a very good experience. At first it was a risk but worth taking. He provided me what I wanted accordingly and he is definitely the guy who keeps his calm. An accommodating musician/producer. He tries his best to understand what you are trying to achieve and gets the job done! I recommend Issa and I am looking forward on working with him for my new projects.

Interview with I$$A

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I have a small studio in my bedroom, so I think this officially qualifies me as a "bedroomer-producer". I use the coaxial C8-Reference speakers from KS Digital, acoustic treatment from GIK Acoustics and different MIDI-Controllers/Hardware-Synths that you can find in my gear list.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: To envision someone's creative, musical or sonical idea, is what I truly strive for and what brings me joy.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: I think the concept of committing to a sound rather than keeping all your options open, is a key to stay creative and efficient.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: My strongest skill is being interpersonal.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: My biggest inspiration is the creative team around Michael Jackson with Quincy Joney, Bruce Sweden, Rod Temperton and the band Toto with Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve, Mike & Jeff Porcaro. Did you know members of Toto co-wrote songs of the "Thriller" album?

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I mostly mix, play piano/keys/synths and produce for artists.
