Jay Ribera on SoundBetter

I'm gonna write and/or sing your next hit. Let's do this!

Hi, I'm Jay Ribera, a singer-songwriter from Venezuela, living in Spain. My biggest dream is to be a recognised songwriter in the Latin music industry, and I'm working on it. Currently, I'm working in 3 projects: my soloist career as Jay Ribera, my band career as Santa Mónica, and my songwriting career, alongside artists from all over the world. I'm gonna write and/or sing your next hit song. If you want some male vocals for a specific track or you need some lyrics for a song, my services are here for you. I can work in a very wide range of genres: pop, rock, funk, reggaeton, dancehall, R&B, etc. Feel free to ask, we can achieve it!

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Jay Ribera

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm working on 3 projects: my soloist career as Jay Ribera, my band called Santa Mónica, and my songwriting career, alongside artists from all over the world.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: Compromise. I'm gonna feel and work in your project as if it was my own.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Sharing art. Art is the most beautiful thing in the world, and music is a very important part of art. So when you make music and share it with an audience, you are sharing art.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: Do you take seriously your project? Do you want to be successful with what you do? Is this just a hobby?

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Check their work. Explore their credits, their music, read reviews... but also trust. People that have a listing in SoundBetter probably have the dream of becoming a successful worker in the music industry. They want to live from what they make in music, so most of them want and need to give you a very professional result. So yeah, check their work, but also trust in them.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: They'd be a microphone, a computer, an audio interface, a XLR cable, and a phone.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I'm publishing music professionally since 2019, but I write songs and love music since I was a kid. When I was just a child, I felt something in my soul that told me making music gonna be my main goal in life.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: I'd say urban-classic. And yeah, that's contradictory, but I feel my style lives between the daily basis and epic situations.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: I'm a Venezuelan songwriter, so working with Elena Rose (who is a Venezuelan songwriter too) would be an incredible experience, since her is one my biggest references of what a successful songwriter should be.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Let your spirit be free. Music is art, and art lives from experiences, feelings, histories. Feel free when you are creating a song, that's the way you gonna make something special and unique.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Pop, reggaeton, rock, funk, R&B... those are the main genres which I feel comfy working with, but I can develop myself in as many genres as you can imagine.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Songwriting. I love to write songs, and that's my main goal of life: communicate feelings, thoughts, histories, and much more through music.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: I bring originality. I love to think out of the box, see what's out there and mix it with the things that I already have. Every song is a unique way to communicate something.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I like to explore and know the universe of my client: their vision, their style, their genres, their history... Once I know my client and their thoughts about a work, I put hands ready to work on it.

  29. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  30. A: Right now I'm working with my Rode NT-1 microphone, my Universal Audio Volt 2 interface, my MacBook Pro computer and Ableton Live 11.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: Elena Rose, Charlie Puth, Édgar Barrera, Servando Primera, Beto Montenegro
