Music Production Mix&Mastering

Fungus Bros. Studio Production on SoundBetter

Hello, my name is Ethan with Fungus Bros. Studio Productions. We are a music and art production studio with the soul purpose of achieving artists vision and personal connection to thier art as a Recording , Mixing , and Mastering studio.

I have been playing drums for 11 years and have done my fair share of recording myself playing drums, but have recently found I enjoy mixing other artists and other unique genres. I am looking to obtain more experience in mixing and tracking for any artist or independent artist whether it be the artist who wants to have fun and get a song mixed and tracked for kicks and giggles, to the artist who wants to take their career further as a musician as I aspire to do as a mix and multitracking engineer. My co-worker and I have been playing music together for a long time and now are wanting to build our own studio and progress as a business. I offer to mix a song or album under reasonable expectations. One final service I provide is to satisfy a client 100% in achieving their desired vision, mood, and overall effect of the song.

Interview with Fungus Bros. Studio Production

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Don't be afraid to experiment with everything. I can't tell you how many times I have stumbled across something cool just by being creative. I do always love the saying that some restrictions are a good thing since they make you think on how to achieve what you want without high the end gear.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: Typically work with volume and pan mixing at first to make sure all instruments are at a respectable and appropriate level which is a huge step. Then start cleaning up clips by fade ins and outs where needed and high or low pass filters when needed appropriately. Now I use equalization to separate all instruments to occupy their own frequency space. Next I start to address dynamic problems with instruments and bring out natural luster and pump to instruments. Now I start using delays for instrument or vocals that are a focal point having a few slap back delays and echos. I also start automation to bring a chorus to slam in or bringing up lead instruments. Now I give reverb appropriately and giving dimension and even feeding delays into reverbs to give even more space in each track.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I am running Pro Tools 12 with a behringer FCA forward interface. With behringer ADAT to expand inputs and outputs. Multiple guitar pedals for effects and then a Dbx compressor. Also have a lexicon reverb along with a number of other plug in effects and processor. KRK monitors with a nice closet of microphones.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I am a big fan of Heavy Metal music my self as I enjoy more late 80's and early 90's thrash metal. I also grew up listening to a lot of 70's and 80's classic rock , blues and pop music and enjoy getting inspired about wanting to do something to the music to bring out more emotion plus raw feeling for an artists music.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Why not use both but don't let one or the other dictate where the vision ends. Use it like a seasoning not too much of either but just enough of both.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: What would want your music to sound like as in an artist whose mix you like whether It be a certain vocal mix or effect to overall mix of the song.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: If you want your music to stand out from all others not just loudness but also space and dimension for everything.

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I have been doing this for about 3 years and am loving every minute. I do hope to commit to it full time and get more compensation for hard work and dedication .

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: It is very creative and unique with no one instrument or voice left boring.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Heavy Metal and electronic at the moment but working on some more rock oriented stuff.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: Being able to use effects effectively and in an unique way which stands out of other mixes.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: The most dimension and space you can achieve and providing a effect rich song without drowning in effects.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: I usually do Mixing and Mastering for my clients as they see my doing more than just adding reverb and effects as I achieve more diverse dynamics with balanced frequency content.
