Interview with Asaf "Ace" Azoulay

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital. Stop living in the past lol ;-) But Seriously, as someone who's been producing ITB almost since it was first introduced to the world (in the late 90's I used to work with ImpulseTracker for sequencing, n-track Studio for daw etc...) - The technology has changed, evolved and advanced so much, that there is no audible difference between analog and digital like it used to be (and even then - if you did a good job, nobody asked or cared if it's analog or digital) ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: A student of mine of many years, has evolved to be an amazing musician and songwriter and I was hired to produce his Debut Album. The entire production process has been a complete joy and honor for me to do. this project is currently ongoing, and we've completed a few songs already, and they are AMAZING (scheduled to be released next fall in Europe)

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Nylon String Guitar (no rusty strings! hahaha) and a Slide... also a Hihat, a Snare and a Kick Drum.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Order. Each step at a time. One step at a time.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Passion.

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I'm an active musician for nearly 30 years (since my teens I've been in bands and recording studios). A producer for almost 20 years, since the beginning of computer based music production... well versed in technology & software.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: Producers: George Martin, Phil Spector & Ted Templeman. Musicians: Beatles, Doors, Zeppelin, Purple, Van Halen,

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Mostly productions from scratch, ie write the tune, arrange play and record it and finally mix it and deliver for mastering. Since I'm a multi-instrumentalist as well, everything gets done in house and by me from start to finish.
