You can trust me to get the job done!! I've been stacking vocals for about 25 years now. Much of that was cultivated in the studio of Kelvin Wooten, Grammy-nominated, highly accomplished producer of Huntsville, AL. I have since then, invested in and learned to work my own recording equipment. I can help you!

    Super talented and Professional!

Interview with Tamara Bodie

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I was contracted as a bgv for Celine Dion's song, The Hard Way, released in 2019. Especially proud, because it was my first recording session as a Nashville background vocalist.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently contracted with the production company, DulaneyLand Music, as a background vocalist to record for their clients.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: My promise is to deliver quality vocal tracks in a timely manner!

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I love that I get to do for a living what I've only dreamed about my entire life!

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: People who aren't well-versed in this industry usually don't realize what it takes to record and match vocals. You can't just sing into a mic. Nuances, rhythmic styles, breathing patterns, pitches, etc.. so many elements play very specific roles and are equally important when it comes to studio recording.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: My laptop, microphone, headphones, interface, and speakers 🙂

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I pursued "jobs" for many years before deciding to truly make this my career path. While working regular jobs, singing and recording bgvs was always something I'd do as a side gig or hustle. But now, since I relocated to Nashville almost 3 years ago, this has become my life's work. But I have more than 20 years of experience recording studio vocals.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I'd love to work with Donald Lawrence. He's a vocal production genius!

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: One tip is to be sure to pan multiple vocal tracks to left and right ears when recording, so that each track is heard separately. Much easier to produce vocals this way.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: My usual is gospel, but I've worked many other genres as well.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I believe one of my strongest skills is my musical ear. My ability to hear wrong or missing notes, and be able to fix the issue, is top-notch.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: I have a unique, warm tone that gives life to a song. Although my tone is unique, I can listen and blend with other voices well, if necessary.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I use Protools as my DAW, an Audio Technica 2020 microphone, with a Kaotica Eyeball for a pop filter, a Focusrite Scarlet Solo interface, and a MacBook Pro.

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: I record background vocals, multiple parts and stacks.
