I'm looking for vocal training for a new song that I wrote and also recording studio to help me mix and master the song that I want to record.

Interview with Michael Harvey/EuphonyMusicLLC

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am proud of the jazz record I did for Dom Thomas. I played piano on most of it and I even composed music for a number of songs on it and then I was asked to mix and master most of it as well.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A gospel single for Kametria Davis and a blues single for The Lester Brothers.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes, Chris Burns.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both, They both offer some great things that the other one lacks.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to deliver nothing less than my very best on each project I am apart of.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love that I am always involved with music before anyone else can hear it.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: They commonly ask what got me into this and I tell them that music picked me.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that it is easy and able to be done in an hour.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I mainly ask them what are they looking for from me. Once we have a sure plan it is easy to get it right.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure that you know what you want. It is easier to please a client that knows what they want.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My Laptop (of course with software and plugins on it), my interface, my speakers my drums, my Roland FA-08 and my bass.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started on drums and then moved to keys. I produced my first gospel album for a choir at 19 years old and while in the studio the bug of production bite me. I started interning at studios and then I eventually started my won company. I have been in business for myself since 2003.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is a melting pot of many different tastes in music. Such as: Gospel, R&B, Neo-Soul,

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Jill Scott. She seems to have a very creative flow to her music.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: My best production tip is trust your ears. If it sounds funny to you it will to someone else as well.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I normally work on Gospel, Neo-Soul and R&B.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my ears for production and mixing.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a well rounded use of instruments and programming, a touch of classic and new age mixing and mastering techniques. I also bring a great set of ears for editing.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My typical process is to record and get the best performances, then edit those to make them as close to perfect as possible. Then mix then to blend well and master it for a great overall delivery.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
