Interview with Bayou Boss K9

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Superstar was my first LP. I am proud of that project as it took 2 years to finalize. I was the featured artist throughout the entire album as it was a solo album. I put a lot of emotion, money, effort, and travel into making that a reality. It gave me a boost with my music and encouraged me to continue on with my passion.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My current goal is to focus on revitalizing my brand through new outlets and opportunities. I wish to expand my influence through features with other artists as well as building my profile on each of my platforms.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No there is no one that I currently know.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both, they each have qualities that the other do not have. I have created songs through both processes, and it was an interesting experience. Digital is faster; yet, analog leaves you with a sense of utter satisfaction that can only come from the time spent on perfecting your project.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: You requested one of the best today.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love the creation. It always fascinates me to turn an empty instrumental into a full picture that someone else can visually imagine through my words.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Are you good? - Send me a beat.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that this is just a hobby for me. I plan to take my talents to where they will shine most and successfully build a full-time musical career.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: - Can the lyrics from this feature contain explicit lyrics? - Are kids your core target audience?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: If I confirm your request, I either wrote the song already or am 50% done.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: - pen - notepad - my hat - lockbox - a photo of my girlfriend

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been writing for about as long as 8-9 years now. I began releasing my music globally in 2020.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is a fusion of the past & present. I possess strong lyricism, concept, and my verses have incredible punch to them. It is nostalgic of rappers like 2Pac, DMX, Lil Boosie, and other popular rappers that peaked in the 90s/2000s.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: One artist I would love to collaborate with is Fredo Bang. We both come from Louisiana, and from most of the artists that hail from our state I thoroughly enjoy his sound.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One music production tip is to work on delivery of your lyrics. That is the most important thing that gives your listeners something to remember you by.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mostly work with rap/hip-hop music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my dynamic flow & concept. I seldom struggle to flow on anything that I hear, and when I do it can even become changeable throughout the track. I also have a highly creative mind that allows me to write about concepts many artists are either afraid to talk about or simply cannot.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: The main component I bring to a song is distinctive vocals and memorable lyrics. Anytime I get on a song I make it a guarantee to leave an impression on my listeners.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My typical work process begins the minute I hear the instrumental or am given a concept. I am known to create songs remarkably quick. Sometimes I can create an entire song within only a few minutes and record it as if I had practiced for days. It begins as a freestyle in my head, and then I began putting the keys words and phrases on the page until I eventually polish them.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Mic: Audio-Technica AT2020 Condenser Studio Microphone Attachments: Vocal Isolation Foam Ball, Knox Gear Pop Filter Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M20X Recording Software: Mixcraft 10 Pro

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My inspiration comes from those who paved the way before me. I am major fan of hip-hop stemming back to as even as early as the 80s. I love the concept, the poetry, the techniques that created this genre. I have been told that I carry that energy with me.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common work I provide for clients is rap features for their songs. I collab with producers or other artists by adding my vocals to their project.
