Endorse Nicolas TilmantI greatly recommend Nicolas' services! Great quality, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient all in one package.
We're a band from Montréal, Canada and we had the chance to have him mix and master 2 songs we've recorded. We're very satisfied with the songs and we definitely want to do more. Thanks Nicolas!
I've been working with Nicolas several time, always a pleasure. He's flexible, caring and his sound is phenomenal. He added what my song was missing.
Interview with Nicolas Tilmant
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: To think I'm a performance savior.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Classicaly trained at 7 (Guitar), then Jazz trained. Self-taught in producing at first, starting working as producer for Warner Music Group at 18, then Master's degree in Musicology and sound engineering. I work as sound technician for Dubbing Brothers, the european leader in Post Production for Films and Series.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I struggle being non-exhaustive
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both are just great tools, it depends on your needs.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To keep and exalt the heart of their work.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be bold, ambitious and confident in your music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Great arrangements and pristine takes is the key.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually really loud Marshall-amplified music, but I also love dealing with the "produced" side of Electronic music, and the organic side of Jazz, Funk...
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Sometimes some fresh air, sometimes some fat molt-injected low-end, cripsy top-ends, dripping mids, it depends...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Understand their vision first, then mixe their songs. Sometimes some artistic direction upon request.
