The Pr0digy on SoundBetter

I am a music producer, vocalist/vocal arranger, and songwriter. I have a performing arts school background, and can produce a variety of genres so I am open to almost all requests (specializing in R&B, Hip Hop and Reggae). I have a good ear and I am very adaptable to artists’ styles. I can also emulate live instruments!

I go by The Pr0digy and I am a music producer, vocalist, vocal arranger, and songwriter from the DMV area. I am offering services in each of these areas, but specializing in song production/instrumentation and background vocal arrangements. I have served as a ghostwriter and producer for many R&B/Hip-Hop tracks that have come out of the DMV area. I am a formally trained vocalist specializing in R&B and Hip-Hop vocal arrangements, but I am very capable of delving into other genres as well. I have been producing for over 10 years, and I bring a contemporary yet classic sound to every song I put my creative efforts towards. Hiring me will bring about not only satisfaction but a fresh musical perspective, as you will find yourself with a unique and beautiful sound.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Pr0digy is one of if not THE BEST artist I have ever worked with, and I as continue on this journey pursuing music he is someone I know I can rely on. Not only does he work efficiently but the outcome is beyond satisfactory. After struggling with so many producers trying to find a sound that was different and unique, it was Pr0digy who helped me achieve the perfect sound. I am grateful that I reached out to him, and I encourage others to do the same I am convinced this young man can accomplish anything he sets his mind too.

The Pr0digy’s attention to detail and the overall sound of his music is evidently reflected in all of his discography. Musical genius is an understatement when referring to him , his talent and his spirit is a beautiful asset to everything he produces. Not only does he create masterpieces but he advocates for other artist and pushes everyone he encounters to be great.

The dedication, passion, and range of talent you get working with The Pr0digy is genuinely something to admire. Along with the tuned ear and keen sense of what can take a track to the next level, you can’t beat it.

The Pr0digy is beyond gifted. It’s rare to find someone THIS well rounded, musically. What amazes me the most is his ability to write. He executes his lyrics so beautifully in a way that tells a story. His music is so stimulating to the mind and pleasant to listen to. The Pr0digy is incredibly intelligent and his creativity is out of this world. His talent and unique style are definitely what’s missing in the music industry.

This young man produces excellent work beyond his years! It's hard to find someone who has their pulse on the latest sounds and technology but can still give you the mature soulful flow that I was provided on my tracks! Job well done!

Interview with The Pr0digy

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: A project I recently worked on that I am especially proud of would be the newest single I just produced for Melody The Soul Butterfly titled "Nothing's Impossible". I am most proud of it because although I am from the DMV area, fusing funk, gospel, and gogo music while trying to keep things smooth was a bit of a challenge at first, but a challenge I was able to overcome nonetheless. The fusion came out fantastic, and I cannot wait to do another project for Melody.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently working on a contemporary gospel EP for one of my favorite and long-time clients.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: N/a

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital, simply because everything is at your immediate disposal without a bunch of extra hassle.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to my clients is satisfaction. I will never leave a customer dissatisfied with the services I have provided, no matter how much tweaking I have to do.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Literally? Everything.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Customers most commonly ask me what direction I think their track should go in, and my answer is normally along the lines of "give me an artist or song who you want the track to be slightly influenced by," and we usually go from there. Works like a charm!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception in being a music producer specifically is that all we do is create the beats, when in reality, we have our hands in pretty much everything related to the song musically.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: It's not just about the money for me, I want people to love and enjoy good music.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: My headphones, my laptop, a battery, my phone, and my keyboard.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I have been in music my entire life, but I've been producing music for a little over a decade now. I've learned a lot from just being a musician alone, but learning how to produce is another thing in itself which I wouldn't trade for the world.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: I can adapt and do well with most styles but I would describe my primary style as smooth, cool, and colorful.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I would like to work with Kendrick Lamar because of his unorthodox way of thinking, and I feel very drawn to the musicality of his songs.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Listen to your production through different audio mediums (cars, speakers, headphones, etc.)

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: My typical work process is to conduct musical research on similar artists to those I am producing for, gain an understanding for the direction the artist is trying to go in, let inspiration come naturally, and start working from the ground up with my chord progressions, basslines, drums, etc.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: My studio has a variety of parts to it that allow me to hear the production I am creating in its entirety (i.e., studio monitors, soundproofing, state-of-the-art-software). This also allows for me to be able to catch any auditory mistakes or potential sounds that could be added to the production.

  35. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  36. A: Do you have any ideas in mind already? What kind of vibe are you going for?

  37. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  38. A: Chord progression and bassline creation

  39. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  40. A: A fresh, classic, and unique feel

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Robert Glasper, D'Angelo, Noah "40" Shebib, Zaytoven, Just Blaze, Pharrell, Musiq Soulchild, JUSTICE League, Rick Ross, Jill Scott, Jhene Aiko, JAY-Z, Jake One

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Creating full instrumental productions or providing background instruments/harmonies

Nothing hits more than R&B music.. literally every era has heavy hitmakers. I'm so grateful that I can produce music from most eras because I wanted to be a student of real music!
