Interview with ProducedbyBroadway

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: I like both. I work mostly out of the box, but there's nothing like being able to physically turn knobs on analog gear.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Seeing the reaction of a client after finishing something that never existed and being excited to share it with the world

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: It's easy to do.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I started playing the drums in the church and always wanted to create music since I was a kid. I have been producing/mixing for over 15 years now.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: Kanye West. He is the reason I started producing after hearing Jay-Z's "Blueprint" album for the first time when I was 14 years old.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: If it feels good, leave it alone.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Whatever it needs

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Usually, the client will send me a rough mix of the song they want to work on with a brief description of what they would like the record to sound like. It's important that I get a good understanding of their vision so I know how to approach production/mixing. Sometimes, it can be to just enhance what they already have or completely take it in a different direction. Once I finish a mix/production, I'll provide the MP3 of the mix/production so they can review it for edits. Once approved, I'll provide the final high-res versions in WAV format to the client.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: Kanye West, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams are my goats.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: The most common work I do includes production, mixing, and vocal editing.
