Nate Christy is a music entrepreneur, producer, engineer composer and performer. He has been running his company, Nate Christy Music, for over ten years. Nate produces for four-time Grammy nominated musician and producer, Larry Dvoskin, whose songs have sold more than 27 million copies worldwide.
Nate Christy is a an experienced producer, recording engineer, mixer, composer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has been running his production company, Nate Christy Music, for over a decade. In that time, Nate has worked with an impressive roster of talented performers and recording artists. Among his many achievements, he has produced the track “Waves of Love,” by Al Jardine and Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, worked with Royston Langston of Space Hog on his track “Love Is a Curious Thing,” and engineered Larry Dvoskin’s Life Is Strange album. Dvoskin, a frequent collaborator of Nate’s, is a four-time Grammy nominated musician, songwriter, and producer whose songs have sold more than 27 million copies worldwide.
In more recent years, Nate has established himself as a sought-after composer of film scores. Most notably, he composed the score for the film Healing Voices, a documentary that has been shown in hundreds of theaters and won an Independent Spirit Award at the Boston Independent Film Festival in the year it was released. His recent credits also include scoring for the documentary film Life Ain’t Fair (about the longest-running continuous agricultural fair in the U.S.) and acting as a production assistant on the upcoming film biography for American Masters, Becoming Helen Keller, which features Broadway and film star Cherry Jones.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been working as a professional for about 17 years.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Patience, listening and honesty.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to start with guitar or piano and a vocal, study the melody and chords and build a quick arrangement of the song. I then like to pull out the guitar/piano and rebuild the arrangement with parts that support the vocal.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run ProTools, Ableton, and Logic Pro on 2x Apollo Quad Cores and an Apollo 16. I have a 16 channel summing mixer, and Focal monitors. I use preamps from Neve, API and Audient. I have a great collection of mics including U87, N22, Telefunken, Shure, Audix and Lauten Audio. My outboard gear has multiple compressors from Inward Connections, Daking and Warm, EQs from Neve. I have many EFX pedals from Strymon, Eventide, Electroharmonics, and Paul Cochrane. 30 different synths, and 15 differnt guitars.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by Billie Eilish, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jon Bellion, Quinn XCII, Brian Eno, Rick Rubin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Some of the most common things I work on with clients are song arrangement, adding instruments (guitars, bass, drums, synths, percussion) and capturing the best performance of their songs.
