AVE is an incredibly gifted, multi-talented artist. I've been fortunate enough to work with and utilize his skills over the last 6+ years. He is extremely talented as songwriter, producer and artist as a whole. His gift for incredible melodies, lyrics and songwriting is something that any of us would strive for. If you have the chance to work with, definitely take it!

Interview with Wes Avery

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: If you're serious, lets connect. Ask questions and trust the process. I've worked with over 400 singers and artists, the serious ones (The obsessive ones) that understand this is an incredibly tough industry, stand a chance. Those are the people I enjoy working with most.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I've been in and out of studios since I was 17 after winning a local radio contest. I got to produce an album and learn directly alongside the great Sylvia Massy (Tool, Chili Peppers, Tom Petty). Imagine being 17 getting first hand experience from one of the greatest mixing engineers and producers in the world. I still use so many of those techniques today

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: No L2 on the master chain..

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I do a bit of everything from pop, indie, acoustic, hiphop, but main focus these days is dance music.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: I mix with my ears, not my eyes. Everyone trains their ear differently and a great mixer comes with a lot of great experience. Check out my mixes and hopefully you'll feel the same

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Buckle down and get working! I've been doing this over 17yrs, there is no "right" process, its madness all the time!!! (And I love it) Each session requires different needs and the best way to hit it is to just HIT IT!

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I work mainly in the box, I have all the plugins, some select outboard gear for vocal tracking and everything electric guitar

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: I'm hooked on a lot of upcoming producers that are thinking outside the box, NGHTMRE, Boombox Cartel, & Ghastly are a few that I believe are shaping the sound of 'tomorrow'

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: My main day to day work and production now revolves around heavy melodic bass music= Trap, Dubstep EDM, I like working on the weird stuff! But I started in Pop and Hiphop production and I think I manage to bring in some of that old school in your face radio sound that helped set the standard years ago.
