Interview with Tatomi
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing bass 30 years ago. After many years and gigs in different venues (from local pubs to arenas) i started learning recording techniques and passing more time in studio as a session bassist. Then i realized that producing music for other artists was my goal, using my musician skills (harmony) and my sound engineer experience.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: After working many years with Logic Pro and Pro Tools, i'm in love with Ableton and its rack-based workflow. My rig is based on two Universal Audio Apollo 8x and two Apollo Satellite 8-core, with a pair of Adam A7x and Focal Twin 6 BE. Native Instrument's Machine Studio and Komplete Kontrol (and all the Komplete plugins) are my starting options when creating. Dangerous Music 2bus+ and SSL Fusion are the foundation of my mix/mastering process chain.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: As a songwriter and producer, there are so many italian young talents to seek (like Tha Supreme). As a mix/master engineer i'm inspired by the great Luca Pretolesi (Studio DMI).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Basically Beat making (or producing instrumentals without top line)
