LaFusion was able to produce the music for my ad content which was picked up for placement. All in a short period of time... This was long before this platform existed but I thought I’d endorse him with my review.. Excellent work all around!

Interview with Juancito "LaFusion" Rodriguez

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: HPTA by Casper Magico, because it is a song I produced alongside a talented group of people, which in the next few months should yield me my first RIAA Certified Plaque.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment I'm working on the development of 3 new artists. 2 Independent male artists, and 1 signed female artist.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not at the moment. Still quite new to the platform.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both because any real pro will assert you that the use of both is industry standard.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will do my absolute best to go above and beyond to make sure you keep coming back.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Getting paid to do what you love!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Q). What kind of Latin Music do you produce? A). The majority...

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People often think we producers are miracle workers that can polish a turd and turn it into a diamond. If you can't sing enough for me to make you sound sonically pleasing to the human ear, keep it moving.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: 1. Where did you record? 2. Are the lyrics completed? 3. Can you send me an MP3 of a rough draft to hear what I'm working with? 4. Do you have a deadline to meet? 5. Can you provide me with at least 2 reference tracks from other artists to steer me in the direction you want to go with the song?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Come to me with completed songs, and well recorded vocals. I cannot stand producing songs without verses, and distorted vocals! (WHICH I WILL NOT TOUCH). I can produce any type of song from scratch but if I have an acapella or a Pro Tools Session with Vocals to work with you will make my life easier and you'll get your money's worth.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. Solar Energy 2. Laptop (with an Internal 10TB Hard Drive) 3. Headphones 4. Audio Interface 5. Midi Controller

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Since I was 9 I began self teaching myself Piano and light Percussion. It was right around 18 years old that I knew my career path was going to be creating music, and not just playing it. Its been my bread and butter for the past 16 years.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Latin Music CC Pop

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Instrumentation, Arranging, Pitch Correction

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: Production wise, if and when I get the opportunity to produce a track to an acapella or a rough vocal; I make it a personal endeavor to create a melodic fingerprint that cannot be used in any other song. This process has never failed me in the 16 years I've been in the business because it makes the clients or artists feel like their song was brought to life with attention to detail.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: 1. Consult with clients. 2. Analyze work or audio presented by clients. 3. Give a realistic estimated time of completion based on the workload. 4. Provide 1-3 different versions of completed works for client feedback. 5. Review before turning in the work.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: Standard Home Studio Setup with the right tools to get the job done in a timely manner.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Sergio George, Wilfredo "Toly" Moreno, Tony Succar, Matthew Weiss, Ricardo Quintero, Marcos "Tainy" Masis, Jose Gonzales, Juan Luis Guerra.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Producing, Arranging, and Mixing hit records.

  39. Q: How would you describe your style?

  40. A: Modern, danceable, easy to learn, catchy, universal.

  41. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  42. A: I'd like to work with Charlie Puth, and Demi Lovato Because I find myself musically identified with their level of talent.

  43. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  44. A: No one will care to listen to you, until they do. Work on your craft, take criticism, and make those mistakes! You'll learn to perfect it.
