Interview with Josué García García

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I love being a solo trumpet and lead of the bigband and currently I am one of the two most important in my city, I hope that live performances will return to fill the theaters and excite the public.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am a teacher of trumpet and improvisation and that occupies 50% of my day, the other 50% I occupy making online recordings for the whole planet from other platforms and I hope that here I also meet many people and can continue to grow!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No, I'm new here....

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. It's time to digitaliza everything.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will do my best for your project!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Create together my friends (customers) and see the final result on the youtube, spotify, soundcloud, etc...

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: My current clients trust me a lot and let me work happily, but sometimes new clients worry a lot about the price, it is normal, although I consider that my price is great for the job and the speed that I offer them!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: When because of the language or the chat language I misunderstand something and I have to repeat the work and delay the delivery. It has happened few times and always for vague or unspecific explanations, but when it happens I feel terrible.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Usually none, just have your needs clearly explained to me. Then I do the rest.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Just trust me.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My trumpet, my computer, my speakers, my hard drive and a bottle of rum!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started playing when I was 8 years old and I haven't stopped until today! I am currently 35 years old. I live from music and I am always very active, I have even written a book and I have my own improvisation school. I also participate in multiple projects in my area and make recordings for all the world. The truth is that I am privileged!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Versatile, multi-layered, sometimes hard, sometimes rough, sometimes velvet, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. It depends on the music, she rules.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I really like working with anyone who is a good person and has a good heart, after that any project is fabulous!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: And it is! When you record for someone the most important thing is to give them all the options you can offer because in this way you make sure that the client will get a wide spectrum of what can be done with this wonderful instrument, the trumpet.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I have worked on more than 1000 projects of all kinds, so so far I have recorded trumpets for countless things: children's animations, movie audio, series of drawings, songs of all kinds, transcriptions of all kinds, entire classical concerts recorded for discs. , arrangements of salsa, merengue, bigband, musicals, TV shows and a long etc ...

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: The truth is that I am a very complete musician, but what I like the most is improvisation! And if I can choose genre I would say latin jazz or smooth jazz.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Sometimes power, sometimes sensitivity, sometimes jazz, sometimes "sabor", but always always always; LOVE.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: First contact with the client is very important, notice their feelings and emotions and really understand what you need to help them the best you can. Then I review the material, audios, scores, comments, etc. Then I get to work! I record tracks one after the other until I am completely satisfied myself and then send all that material to the client so that he can decide which is the best take for his project. If after this the client still needs more material I have no problem giving unlimited revisions until everything is perfect! Although that happens very rarely!

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work with LOGIC PRO X and I can record with my two favorite mics, the Shure SM 57 and the RODE NTR tape mic with both I'm very happy with the quality they offer me, but my favorite is the RODE. JBL speakers and Focus Rite sound card, I also have a green screen and spotlights to make videos!

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Any musician small or big who puts his heart in making others happy inspires me to do the same.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common are improvisations in any style, I must say that this type of work is my favorite, although I also do transcriptions of songs or interpretation of scores, anything that has to do with the trumpet, music and making others happy. loves!
