About myself:

Hi, my name is Lucas de Sá. I'm a professional sound engineer, composer, bass player and music producer based in São Paulo, Brazil. I've degree in Music Production and post-degree in Popular Song. Owner of Lab de Sá Studio, I've already done several works of recording, mixing, mastering, arrangements and soundtracks. I've experience with several musical styles, orchestra, sample libraries and customers from more than 15 countries.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: The album "Aragem" by Pedro & Filó. Very special work where I had the pleasure of producing, arranging, recording several instruments, playing bass, mixing and mastering. All in my studio, Lab de Sá.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Mixing of UmQuarto's album, soundtrack and mixing of the new film by Memorabília Filmes, in addition to freelance work.

  10. A: Both. Today there are many great plug-ins and virtual technology. The most important thing is to know how the tools work and make the best final product. Make the sound touch people.

  18. A: Doing it superficially, without involvement, without wanting it to be the best job I've ever done in my life.

  20. A: Each case is different, but in general, what the client wants for their work, in addition to references, deadline and budget.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Don't be afraid to show and trust in your work. We are all learning and evolving. It will be a pleasure to make your work even more amazing!

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Nothing! If I were on a desert island, the last thing I would worry about would be gear! haha

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: Born in São Paulo in 1992, I started my musical studies in 2006, studying Electric Bass at Conservatório Ernesto Nazareth, where I stayed until 2010. Then I went to the Conservatory of Tatuí-SP and in 2013 studied Upright Bass at SESC V. Mariana. I've been working since 2011 as bass player, performing with various groups and artists. In 2015 I graduated in Music Production Technology at Anhembi Morumbi University and in 2017 completed a Post-Graduation in Popular Song at Santa Marcelina College, with TCC supervised by Meno Del Picchia on "The question of gender in Brazilian popular song". I worked as a trainee at YB Music in São Paulo, where I had contact with great artists and producers. Since 2018 I have been working professionally in my own studio, Lab de Sá.

  28. A: Technical, experimental and versatile.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento. They're brazilian gods!

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Always respect your customer's history, origins and work. Leverage the good and consider what can be improved sincerely.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Rock, Indie, Alternative, Pop, Brazilian and Latin Genres, Songwriter, Acoustic and Folk, Afrobeat, Epic Orchestra and 8-Bit Music.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Care and meticulousness at work. Respect for what the customer wants and dedication to always doing the best job possible.

  38. A: Always the best quality possible. Professional, meticulous work, careful arrangements, balance between technique and feeling. Knowledge and intuitiveness in favor of art.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: First I receive the sketch or background tracks, analyze the references, think of an outline of what and how I will do my job and start. Always reviewing in great detail and quality what I'm doing and keeping an eye out for what the customer wants.
