Interview with Denise De'ion
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I honestly am most proud of the work I do on my own stuff. I usually have the role of producer, songwriter and artist so my creative input and control is all me!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on my own singles and EP. Attending songwriting camps. Competing in beatmaking competitions
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am new to SoundBetter so at the moment there is no one that I can recomment.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Not opposed to Analog, My home studio setup is mainly digital and transportable at the moment.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give you 100% me
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everything. I say that because, it's my passion. As a whole, I love everything. Although there are tasks that may seem daunting, I enjoy being able to be artistic in this medium.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: - Can I hear some samples? Answer: Yes of course - How soon can you get it done Answer: 3-7 business days - What is your price Answer: it ranges from $200 and up depending on what you're looking for
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: - That I just press buttons and voila! It's done!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - What are they looking to create? A single? EP? Get a mix done? - What is their deadline? - What made you reach out to me?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a conversation with me. Tell me about yourself and let's see what common ground we have before moving forward. I think artists see the title 'producer' 'songwriter' or whatever and automatically they want to work with you. It's good to do your research and see if it's a good fit first before continuing.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1. Macbook and charger 2. Apollo interface 3. Neumann Microphone 4. AKG Headphones 5. AKG Midi keyboard

A: My career path is to be a household name as far as the new age of female producer/artist/songwriters
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: - My style definitely has bounce to it. I am an artist and when I am performing my own songs, there is a certain groove or bounce that you just can't stay still and you'll want to join in on the party too.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: - Really there is no specific artist. I feel like it boils down to chemistry. If they believe in me and vice versa, we can make anything happen
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: - Don't overthink!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: - What I usually work on is R&B, Hip Hop, Soul
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: - I am a strong leader and often people look to me to take charge and direct.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: - Being that I am also an artist, when I am producing music it gives me a better insight into arrangement. Knowing where to let certain parts breathe and give room for the vocals
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: - It varies depending on inspiration that day. I could be taking a walk and a melody pops into my head and I voice record the idea and get back to my studio and search for sounds to match up. Or sometimes I will go through sounds or melody loops and vocals and that will inspire me.
