Jannick T.R on SoundBetter

Hi my name is Jannick and i'm a mixing and mastering engineer. I'm not going to give you the big sales pitch, because honestly all I care about is that you are happy with your song and it has the quality all songs deserves to have. My goal is to give you the song that YOU want and I always work until you are satisfied with the product.

As said my name is Jannick and I have 3 years of experience in the music industry offering mixing and mastering services.
I started out in 2015 with my mentor Jesper at his professional mixing and mastering studio, he has won several platinum and gold records and I was really fortunate to become his student. Beside that, I do also have contact to other professional studios such as MediaSound Studios who have 35+ years of experience in the field, where I often come to learn more.

I work mostly with EDM, Tropical / dancehall and all kinds of House as that's where I have most experience. But I do have some experience with other genres too.
I love working with songs and fine tuning the small details until everything is perfect and ready for release, I love my craft and I take it seriously, just like any other sound engineer should do.

I always say to my customers that if they aren't happy with something, then tell me because I will rather fix it than you being disappointed and going away with something you aren't happy with. As you might have guessed I am all about making you happy and giving you the product you want. I will also advice you as we work together, if needed or if you have any questions.
I work in the box but that doesn't mean you can't get good results ;)

I give Jannick 5 stars because he has great customer service, he's willing to hear his clients out and work till they're happy with the results. I recommend new clients to send him a rough mix of how you want your mix to sound that way it could give him a better idea of your vision. If you want a caring budget friendly engineer that is only getting better as he continues to practice, he is your guy.

Jannick did a really great work again as well. The vocals were improved greatly by his master, I believe the EQ and compression he used were spot on. Great job.

Interview with Jannick T.R

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I worked on this Remix called Can't Buy Me from the artist called Robot Diver, which I think turned out really really well, I really enjoyed working on that song.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment i'm working on several EDM songs and a couple of Hiphop releases.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I'm not that known with other providers on soundbetter, so I do not really know who I should recommend.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I work in the digital domain but with some of the best analog emulations from for example solid state logic, UAD, Waves, Slatedigital, Soundtoys and many others.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise will be, that I will never stop working on your song no matter how long it takes until you are happy with the result and it has reached it best capabilities.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I like most about my job is the fact I can work with new music all the time and help it to get to its absolute best capabilities.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: They often ask after the prize of the job and how long it takes to get it done. My answer is always depending on how long I imagine it will take after I have heard the song, but often it will be 50$ and around 2 days time.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I think the biggest misconception about mastering is that I only adjust the volume and fix mixing mistakes, because mastering is so much more than that.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I often ask the client for a reference track from them in order to hear what they have in mind.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Find a person that has the same taste like you and a person that listen to your wishes and a person that does his best for the song.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A computer, a good pair of studio headphones, an audiobox or apollo audio interface, a portable JBL speaker and my ilok.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started out in 2015 with my mentor Jesper at his professional mixing and mastering studio, he has won several platinum and gold records and I was really fortunate to become his student. Beside that, I do also have contact to other professional studios such as MediaSound Studios who have 35+ years of experience in the field, where I often come to learn more. Websites: http://www.vividdidit.com http://www.mediasound.dk/

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I will describe my style as a little bass heavy but also very gentle to the song, with a nice touch of glue and analog feel.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I will like to work with an artist that has patience so I can do my work properly and an artist that is already minded about mastering requires feedback both from you as an artist but also from me.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: A tip will be to forget your ego and always aim for what is best for the song.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work with EDM music or Hiphop.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill will most definitely be my skill to improve a track without changing it a hole lot.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I like to bring this really nice analog feel to a song and I love to a song with depth and feel in it. Beside that I make sure that the song performs its best at the streaming platforms by going just to the limit and therefore keeping a lot of those nice dynamics, even though many people think it sounds quite in comparison to other songs :) Another thing I like to bring to a song, is to keep what is already in the song but just enhancing it without changing it too much.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My work process really depends on the song, but most often I start with some eq then some saturation and from there it can go all kinds of crazy ways.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: In my setup I have a pair of Focal monitors, a pair of Yamaha HS8 monitors and a HS8S subwoofer. Then I have 2 computer screens and a audio box interface. Beside that I have a very well treated room, which is very suited for mixing and mastering.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I think it is always nice to hear new creative ideas and songs from other people, and I find it a pleasure to help get a song to its best capabilities.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most often I do mastering for my clients, either in the EDM world or in the Hiphop world.
