Interview with Tissa Rahim

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recently recorded original music that includes lyrics in both English and Farsi to be released in 2024.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I was recently in the studio co-writing for Melrose Avenue, a rock band from Australia. I also toplined on a house track for LA-based artist Zach Mackey.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I recommend Jonah Ocean, an excellent multi-instrumentalist. I also recommend Mishell Ivon, a powerful singer songwriter and top liner.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: As an instrumentalist I love my analog sounds, but also employ digital sounds for my music.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to deliver high quality vocals with thoughtful lyrics and tasty melodies with confidence.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love being able to exercise my creativity and to collaborate with people of all kinds of backgrounds.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Most often they ask about turn around time and what is included in my delivery. I let them know that depending on the size of the project the delivery window is between 2 days up to a week, and I can deliver multiple takes of each line as well as adlibs and backing tracks.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that I am only a singer, as I am also a strong guitarist, bass player, composer and songwriter.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I will ask them to provide me with references to released songs, if possible. I will also ask if they have any ideas for where they want the song to go lyrically.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't be afraid to give me details on your vision so we can work to get you what you need, and trust you are in confident hands.

  22. A: My computer My mic My electric guitar My amp My audio interface

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been a professional musician for 15 years. I started off touring with a rock band in 2011, and since then have built an extensive catalog of music, written and produced for other artists, and honed in on my live and studio performance skills.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My personal project combines RnB/Soul sounds with Middle Eastern ones, with a jazzy blend as well.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I have a very flexible voice - I am known for my runs, as well as my powerhouse vocals. I lock in with rhythms of various genres and create very tasteful toplines.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a perspective that combines old school soul with modern and fresh performances and composition. Because of my middle eastern background and my extensive performance experience, I can perform in various genres and deliver high quality results.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: When I receive a song to topline and record vocals on I take a few turns with the instrumental and begin sketching out the strongest melodies that come to me.
