Mixing in collaboration with Real Sound Studio

Our mixes run through two sets of hands and ears to deliver deep harmonic soundscapes with a full range of dynamic precision.
I am Leo Bescotti, Grammy winning recording engineer, Berklee graduate and music producer. I will first apply myself creatively to your mixes to ensure all buses work in harmony and breath with micro automation and detail, the mixes then pass by Roberto Gramegna, proprietor of Real Sound Recording Studio since 1982 and engineer of over 400 albums. In Real Sound Studio A the audio is monitored in a world class acoustic space and shaped for aesthetic beauty and impact.
Monitors used include:
Genelec 10/32A

I am an artist based in NYC, currently navigating record and publishing deals. Leo is my go-to guy for beats/production. We've worked at many studios around New York and in each place he has been fantastic. Really a gem of a producer and I am super thankful to work with him.

Interview with Leo Bescotti

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am especially proud of my work on OFLO's EP: Thank you: I coproduced the tracks with her and it turned out awesome.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A dance track with VASSY. My own dance music project. OFLO's new singles and Alice Longyu Gao's new track for IKEA.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Jason Strong, fantastic producer in Los Angeles and good friend of mine.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because it's more practical. Although I often re-record piano and key sounds out through a speaker and into an AKG414 which could be thought of as a very analog way of processing a sound.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: We will agree to the expectations before every project and I will always meet those expectations.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Completing projects ahead of schedule and happy clients.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How do I promote this song once it's out? - I connect them to my business network.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The phrase "this part just needs more production" . There is this idea that producers love all our fun cool sounds and want nothing better than the chance to layer them all over a track. The choice of production derives from understanding the client's intentions.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What phase of the production process are you in and how can I bring value.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Describing oneself in a flattering way is easy. Check audio examples.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: tent, gun, axe, fishing rod, lighter

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been producing music for 4 years. I graduated from Berklee College of Music as a Music Production and Engineering major and until recently have been an engineer at Arcade Songs NYC.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Consistent, never formulaic.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Kanye West - I believe he's on the fore-front of lyricism as our society evolves to a place of un-restrained self expression and it makes for interesting works of art.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: What you're producing matters more than how you produce it.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: trap-soul or dance music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Communication

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I place foundational musical elements first and foremost in my productions. The tempo could be 1BPM faster and change the feel. How is the voicing in the harmony contributing to the vibe? Is this melody final? Especially for hook melodies I insist on refining those to an inordinate degree.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I work with my clients to understand the big picture and their goals first. What nature of success is the record being designed to achieve? From there I take a dive to the opposite end of the spectrum and channel creativity, passion and enthusiasm into the creative process of producing and songwriting.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Until recently, as an employee of Arcade songs, I was working in a room with an API, Genelec speakers and a view of Times Square. I have since gone free-lance and will produce from home or rent out Shifted sound studios in Brooklyn if I need an accurate space.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Miles Walker is a professional mix engineer and producer who has delivered countless award winning mixes for the likes of Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Kygo and more. Having worked in his studio in Atlanta I model my style and work ethic after him.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I work with my clients to build a solid production around their song concept. My philosophy is to always emphasize and to be in service to the song and to prioritize vocal production above all else.
