Seven times Latin Grammy nominee. I own Black Box Mastering, one of the best mastering dedicated rooms in Spain where we offer mastering services exclusively. I mastered high sales albums (platinum and gold) in lot of genres, providing world class audio quality worldwide. MFIT certified provider. Open mind and hard worker.

Black Box Mastering is a dedicated mastering facility where I own and run. It´s provided with a selected top gear and a dedicated design for a mastering use, the perfect place to listen your work and carry it to the world.

We process audio with analogue and digital equipment in a brilliant room, we can do mastering because we can hear your music how it is.

Have respect for the music and the record for me is an aim, communication is a great tool to get the best result quickly. Although we are not specialized in any genre, we are so experienced in Pop, Rock, Latin and World music, especially in acoustics and organics sounds, working with the dynamics that each kind of music requires.

As a part of a production process, we are not here to cause you a good impression with a loud master, we want to finish your audio as it deserves and let hear as conceived, keeping it in a high class audio.

Multi Latin grammy nominee with Café Quijano (Record of the year, Album of the year) and Las Migas. Also multi platinum album with several artist.

Services:

Mastering, Stem Mastering, MFIT Certified, Pre vinyl mastering, Editing, Restoration, Remastering...

Interview with Miguel A. González

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: The best of each domains as a room mates. In terms of processing, for me, analog and digital have their own benefits in each task. If we are talking about audio formats or recordings, it´s similar to processing... Listening an analog sometimes sound more musical for me. The great answer here is IT DEPENDS.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: Origenes: El Bolero en directo was a live album of a band called Café Quijano which have got an amazing result. Was not easy to keep it sounding natural and keep the mix sounding as great as it comes. The performance and the recording was a great job of the engineer and the band. Please take a listen for a great team well work in a live recording.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I´m finishing a great flamenco album and a few Pop singles.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I will listen your mix, listen you and will treat to do my best.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: -Would like to sound like... could be close? -Sound as you is greater than sound like other.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: We´ll fix it in mastering.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Choose someone who can listen and understand your needs and give you advice to get the best.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Thinking there is a great room for me over there... 1. My B&W´s 2. Great converter 3. analog EQ 4. analog comp 5. Mac with software. If there is not any room... a boat and some beers would be ok ;)

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Let people do what can do better than you.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Objectivity, balance, presence, weight, and the less destruction as possible. I love to get a nice master for a pleasant listening.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: My studio setup is a mixture of greats analog and digital tools which let me choose my favorite way of sound. The most important piece of the studio is the room, that come along with the monitors to be a perfect ally. Due to work for several kind of music, I treat to have a versatile studio setup, where I can get a clear sounding or add some color instead. At the moment, I can use a clear eq´s or comp as weiss Eq1, maselec Mea, Mla or Manley Vari-mu or ad some color with an Api 5500. The main converters I use are a Lavry blue, mixed with an Apogee sometimes. I use SoundBlade for most of projects an have an Otari MTR for a tape jobs.
