MICS on SoundBetter

I’m MICS, a North West London-born artist creating emotionally driven music rooted in authenticity and real-life experiences. Whether I'm creating for myself or collaborating with others, my focus remains the same: to make music that leaves a lasting impact and helps people tell their stories in the most authentic way possible.

My journey in music began long before releasing records. Through years of DJing and sound engineering, I developed a deep understanding of music production, mixing, and mastering. That hands-on experience has given me complete creative control over my sound, allowing me to craft records from the ground up while ensuring every detail reflects my artistic vision.
My breakthrough track, Tell Me Interlude, has amassed over 7 million streams across digital platforms, marking a defining moment in my journey and introducing my music to a global audience.
Beyond my own artistry, I'm passionate about helping other artists unlock their potential. My experience across songwriting, production, recording, vocal arrangement, mixing, and mastering allows me to collaborate at every stage of the creative process. Whether it's developing an idea into a finished record, refining an artist's sound, or delivering a release-ready mix and master, I enjoy bringing creative visions to life while helping artists build confidence in their music.
I'm available to collaborate with artists, labels, and creatives looking for a dedicated creative partner. Whether you need a producer, songwriter, mix and mastering engineer, or someone who can help shape your sound from concept to completion, I offer a hands-on approach tailored to your vision.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with MICS

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of the projects I'm most proud of is my own record, "Tell Me Interlude", which has accumulated over 7 million streams & still counting across digital platforms. I was involved throughout the creative process, from developing the record to ensuring it represented my artistic vision. That project reinforced my belief that authenticity, attention to detail and consistency can connect with listeners around the world, and those same principles now shape every client project I work on.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Alongside developing music for myself, "MICS", I'm helping independent artists transform ideas into release ready records through production, mixing, mastering and creative development while continuing to expand my catalogue and collaborations.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I believe every project deserves the right collaborator. If I genuinely feel another specialist is a better fit for a client's goals, I'd always be happy to recommend them. Mixed By B4, is another goat other than myself...

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. Today's technology allows incredible flexibility and quality while giving artists access to professional results regardless of location. I use digital tools to stay efficient without compromising creativity.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll treat your music with the same care, honesty and attention to detail that I give my own. My goal is never to rush projects, it's to deliver records you're genuinely proud to release.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists hear their vision fully realised. There's nothing better than watching someone's confidence grow when they hear their finished record for the first time.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The most common question is, "Can you make my song sound professional?" My answer is always yes, but only if we're willing to work together creatively. The best records come from collaboration, honest feedback and attention to detail, not shortcuts.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people think mixing or mastering can fix a weak song. Great engineering enhances great music, it doesn't replace strong songwriting, performances or production.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask: • What are you trying to make the listener feel? • Who are your musical influences? • What do you already love about the song? • Is there anything you're unhappy with? • Do you have reference tracks? • What's your goal for this release? Those answers help me make decisions that fit your vision.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't just choose someone because they're the cheapest, worked with famous names or own expensive equipment. Listen to their work, communicate with them and find someone who genuinely understands your vision. A great collaboration always produces a better record than a purely technical transaction.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: • Laptop • Audio Interface • Studio Headphones • Microphone • MIDI Keyboard With those five things, I'd still be making music.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My journey began through DJing and sound engineering before expanding into production, songwriting, recording, mixing and mastering. Over the years I've released my own music independently, built a catalogue that includes a track with over 7 million streams with many others close behind, Iv developed a deep understanding of every stage of the record-making process. Those experiences now shape how I help other artists.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Emotional, modern and detail-driven. I like records that feel polished without losing their personality. My approach is always to enhance the artist rather than impose my own sound.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I'd love to work with artists who genuinely care about creating timeless music rather than simply following trends. Such names as Kanye West, Tory Lanez if I was to name any. The opportunity to help shape records that connect with people on a deeper level is far more exciting than working on a big name for the sake of it.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Never chase perfection before you've captured emotion. Listeners forgive small imperfections, but they rarely connect with a technically perfect performance that feels lifeless.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I primarily work within Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, Trap, Melodic Rap, Pop and alternative urban music, but I'm always open to projects where emotion, songwriting and production are the priority.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My biggest strength is combining creativity with technical precision. I know how to take an idea from its earliest stage and develop it into a finished record without losing what made it special in the first place.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Perspective: As an artist, producer, songwriter and engineer, I understand music from every angle. I'm not only listening for technical issues, I'm listening for emotion, storytelling, arrangement, dynamics and impact. Every decision is made to serve the song rather than simply making it louder or cleaner.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Every project starts with understanding the artist's vision. I'll listen to reference tracks, discuss the emotion they're trying to capture and identify what's already working. From there I refine the production, improve clarity and impact through mixing, enhance the emotional delivery where needed, and finish with a polished master that's ready for release. Communication is important throughout the process, with revisions used to make sure the final result reflects the artist's vision.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work from two professionally equipped home studios & access to a main studio, giving me a flexible environment for both creative production and precision mixing. My setup includes professional monitoring, high-quality recording equipment, industry-standard software and an extensive plugin collection, allowing me to deliver commercial-quality productions, mixes and masters across a wide range of genres.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm inspired by creatives who consistently push boundaries while remaining authentic. Artists and producers who create timeless records through emotion, attention to detail and originality have always influenced me more than trends. I admire people who understand both the creative and technical sides of music and use them to build something meaningful.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I work with independent artists who already have a strong idea but need help turning it into a professional, release ready record. Whether that's refining production, enhancing vocals, mixing, mastering or providing creative direction, my focus is always on bringing out the emotion and identity of the artist rather than applying a generic formula. My goal isn't just to finish songs, it's to help artists create records they're genuinely proud to release.
