Erin Laetz on SoundBetter

I'm rising up against all odds, and will always continue to create and represent good music for any and every occasion. Let's talk!

Erin Laetz, born and raised in Malibu, CA, has had a deep love for music since the tender age of two, when she started playing piano with her chin. Her piano studies continued until the age of ten, when she discovered her aptitude for the flute. Laetz was very fortunate in her musical upbringing, being surrounded by opportunities that challenged her and allowed her to grow steadily into a versatile and competent flautist. Her passion for music led her to pursue a degree in flute performance at Humboldt State University (HSU) under the direction of San Francisco Conservatory trained Laura Snodgrass.

While flute remained her primary instrument at HSU, Laetz felt a strong pull towards percussion, and immersed herself into the university’s percussion department. She became obsessed with the musical traditions of West Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean; an obsession which would later bring her to study music in Guatemala (2013) and Cuba (2016) , and perform professionally in Trinidad and Tobago (2017, 2018, 2019).

Laetz relocated to the Bay Area in 2017, where she began to grow an interest in Music Production and Recording Arts. She began taking classes through the Women’s Audio Mission, where she would eventually earn an internship (2018). In opening herself up to the ‘other side’ of music, she discovered a passion for digital music production, sound design, and recording.
