Interview with Arne Bernstein
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Recording of Kurt Masur. http://www.hfm-detmold.de/fileadmin/lia_hfm_2014/pool/images/Tracklist_Detmolder_Sommerakademie_2004.jpg
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Fully digital: In these days the emulations of analog gear is just as good as the original. With digital equipment I am much more flexible to add new pieces of gear, and I can decide on my own when and how much saturation I bring into any track.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love music!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How do you want your song to sound like? Do you have any reference track?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Laptop with ProTools, my headphones and 3 Batterypacks ;-)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A bit of saturation makes the difference!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: In mixing I work on all kinds of pop or rock songs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill are extraordinary listening skills - I graduated with best marks in both technical and musical aural theory.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix completely in the box, using ProTools. My monitoring setup is a pair of B&W 683 and a BeyerDynamic DT990Pro.
