Interview with Justin Williams
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I admire Max Martin, Warren "Oak" Felder, Jordan "Dj Swivel" Young, Ryan Leslie, Serban Ghenea, John Newman, Charlie Puth, out of most of it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I produce, mix and master. Most of the projects that i produce, i also master them.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that everybody expects to a hit song. A hit song, only the audience can decide it, so what i can promise is a high quality, fresh song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is the key of everything in this business. I love getting feedback, honest feedback, because based on that i will know exactly what to deliver and to fulfill the expectations.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this for more than 10 years. It's been a long ride with a lots of ups and downs, i worked for different music production studios, some big, some smaller, but right now, i'm independent and i love it. I can be more creative this way, at least for now.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be creative. In the early stage of creating the song, be as creative as you can, then you can build around that and focus on the sound of the production.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most of the time, i produce pop, edm and rnb. I'm also opened to other genres, obviously, i like to be challenged, so hit me :D
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think that music production and mixing are my strong points.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I love being creative anywhere i go, and i inspire myself usually from everything that surrounds me. I always have my laptop with me so i can be creative anytime.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When i start a new project, i am always building the ideas in the first couple of hours, if it's the direction that i want, then i move further intro production. I always build about 1-1.35 min of a song, then i will make a final decision on the song if it makes it to the final version.
