A great song writing duo! I had the chance to work with them this summer mixing their record. Wonderful layers and attention to detail. It feels like they took time and care creating very cool soundscapes that mixed perfectly with their melodies. Their writing has depth and holds your interest. Easy going but confident which is an awesome mix. A true pleasure to work with!

Very professional and creative duo to work with. They listened to my vision for the song I needed and captured the tone perfectly. I was blown away by the quality of their finished work. I will definitely hire them again. Highly recommended!

Interview with Highly Distorted

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: We typically work in the pop/rock and folk genre (i.e. pop, pop/rock, alt rock, soft pop, acoustic folk)

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: We pride ourselves on our ability to write catchy hooks in a variety of genres. We are very client focussed in our process, and will work with you to help you realize your vision.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: A variety of different musicians in a variety of different genres from Max Martin to Muse to the Chainsmokers.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Communication is key in order for you to achieve what you are looking for. The best working relationships are those where there is clear communication between everyone. Our advice would be to work with a provider who is willing to communicate with you in the most effective way to bring your project to life.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Let the song write itself! Often times you might start out wanting to write one song, which ultimately takes a different direction than you may have originally intended. Don't fight it - - just go with it. You'll be glad you did in the end.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: For us, writing a song will typically start with an idea, whether it be a lyric, a melody or a beat, and we will build it from the ground up from there. We are not satisfied until we feel every element of the song is not just good, but excellent.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: We have a primarily digital set up, running Pro Tools 2018 with a variety of Virtual Instruments and Effects including Omnisphere, EWQL Composer Cloud, Komplete 12 and Waves.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: As our bio says, we offer full song creation. The most common type of work we do would be anything to do with that, whether it be lyrics, melody, harmony, music arrangements or full song commissioning, this is our wheelhouse.

  17. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  18. A: We are extremely proud of our first Alt Rock EP #Studiohouse which was released July of this year. The EP consisted of six songs that were all written, arranged, played, and produced by Highly Distorted. What was even more special was that the whole process only took about 5 months to complete from the ground up.

  19. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  20. A: Currently we are working on our second album, to date we have six completed tracks and looking to finish another four to six. The album will be more in the direction of soft rock or folk, which will allow us a greater ability to honour the authentic sound when playing live shows.
