Mads Franzen on SoundBetter

Professional quality mixing and mastering without the B.S. Free mastering! Unlimited Free Revisions! I work in almost every genre, though I specialize in modern sounding music.

Hi, I'm Mads Franzen - based in Aarhus, Denmark.

I'm always open for working with new exciting artists - and I wanna work with YOU!

I am very proud to say, that I push myself to only work on music that I truly enjoy listening to. I don't think I would be able to sleep at night if my day-job consisted of working on music I don't even like.

That means that you (my client) can always be 100% sure that I will go that extra mile (or two) to truly make your music groove and shine! It makes my job way more fun and it also allows me to connect with your music on a completely different level, than if I was just saying "yes" to everything that comes through my door.

I of course do unlimited free revision to make sure that you are 100% satisfied with the final sound. I will also do alternate versions and stems of any kind - free of charge of course.

So let's talk! And figure out exactly how I can help you and your music reach its full potential!

I primarily do mixing - but I've been a producer all my life too. Feel free to reach out to me if you wanna talk about having me assist you in producing your next track or record.

Interview with Mads Franzen

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I've helped an old friend put together a song for our biggest national radio. I did production, mixing and mastering on it and I'm so pleased with how it turned out!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on a few mixing from returning clients and doing some local production here in Aarhus.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I've worked with some great mastering engineers, that I would be very happy to set you up with! But it really depends on what genre you're in.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Well, the workflow of digital beats analog any day.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: That I will do everything I can to make sure they're 100% satisfied!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Getting to work with a lot of different clients on a lot of great music!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: If I'm available for work. My answer is yes.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing isn't creative.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I like to talk to my clients about the songs and the entire process behind them. That gives me an insight into what parts of the tracks i should highlight.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Just go for it! Let's talk about you and your vision!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Sennheiser HD 650, SSL Buss Comp, Oxford Inflator, Soothe 2, and an LA-2A.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started as a musician mixing my own stuff, because I felt like nobody could hit the exact vibe I was going for. That grew into a business when other people heard my stuff and started liking my sound.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Very hands on.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I don't really care for namedropping. A good song is a good song.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: LESS IS MORE

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mostly work in the crossover of melodic trap to indie pop.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My musicality. I've been a musician all my life - I'm not just a techy guy.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: A fresh set of ears and an insight into what carries the song!

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I spend a lot of time in the beginning of a project finding the most emotional parts and elements of a song - and then I work around those.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I've got a very minimal setup these days. I'm 100% in-the-box. That just makes everything so much easier. I've really been getting into mixing on headphones lately! It gives me a nice perspective - and almost everyone is listening to music on headphones these days, so why shouldn't we work in headphones?

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I have huge respect for people that dare to make bold choices! Sometimes we just gotta take a leap of faith!

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily do remote mixing and mastering!
