I am the Lyricist and Executive Producer of Emotional Terrorist. Once we handed this project to Jed his talents took this project to an entirely new level. Once the team heard the final mix, their reactions were a collective "Wow!". Jed is a trustworthy communicator and in my opinion, the best in the business.
The music video I directed “Emotional Terrorist” by Billy Mercury hadn’t been mixed when I had it for production and for the edit. The EP on the project got Jed on for the final mix which I received just before the video was to release. Talk about absolutely blown away! The new mix came back and it was like day and night. EVERYTHING sounded so much fuller, so much better. In the film world there’s a saying that the sound is half the picture. Jeds work brought my work to a much better place.

Jed is the trifecta - he has great ears, he knows how to get any sound you're looking for and he's SUPER easy to work with! In addition to that, he knows just about every country, country-rock and rock song ever written from his experience as a singer/pianist. He draws from that huge body of experience to produce your song in the best possible arrangement. I am very happy with how he brought my song to life and recommend him to any songwriter! Finally, I think he could ask higher prices for the quality he provides! - Doug H. singer/songwriter
Interview with Jed Demlow Productions
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of all the projects I've produced big and small.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Record for new Pop Punk Artists called Try Again.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog has that "it" sound that's hard to describe and is sometimes just better. Digital. If it's good enough for Andrew Schepps to mix records in the box, it's good enough for me.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: 100% satisfaction
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much and how long. This all depends on the individual project and what all will be involved to make it the nest it can be.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It's glamorous in the Nashville studio. It hours and hours of meticulous work but we love it!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Lets talk.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Do we have electricity? My complete Macbook M1 system with all my instruments and pluggins, Universal audio Apollo x8, Sphere L22 mic system, Fender bass and Telecaster. I can produce anything with these.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Laid back, Accessible.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen to what the client is telling you and find a way to get them there.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Country/ Country-Pop, Rock and Punk Rock are all in my wheelhouse
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have 30 years experience in the business. I get inspired by songwriters songs and ideas. I like to bring fresh sounds, textures and production to support their melody and lyric.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I get a worktape from the client and go over what their vision is first. Then I do a quick rough to make sure we're going in the right direction. Once that is confirmed we crank out the production, get that approved by the client then mix and finalize for delivery. Many times I will get vocals from the client or if we're lucky they come to my home studio and we cut here.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Mac M1 running several different DAWs depending on the project. Apollo x8 and twin interfaces for front end. Lots of great plugins and hardware. Multiple guitars/bass, keyboards including Roland Jupiter X and Yamaha YC88. Roland Vdrums kit.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing Artists , Building complete release ready productions starting with just a simple work tape. Mixing productions Mastering productions
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not sure. Haven't had time to peruse who's on here yet.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working from home!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your end goal with this song? How do you hear this song sounding? What commercial song is out there that you want this song to kinda sound/feel like?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started doing songwriter demos out of a mobile home in Pataskala, OH in 1990. We moved to Nashille in 2017 and things have really taken off from there. I do one or two songwriter productions or a toplining track every day.

A: Greg Wells. He's a music producer that inspires me.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Keyboards/production
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
