I will sing your top lines and harmonies quickly and accurately. I have extensive experience in studio session work. I can also help bring your song to life by way of production. I have a UK chart entry that I wrote and performed vocals on. My style is piano driven.

Record from your guide vocals and return to you quickly either as top-line melody and/or harmonies. Also happy to help with the writing process if required. My DAW is Logic - all files will be exported as WAV, clearly labelled and ready to import directly into your chosen software in one easy import, all lined up and tidy.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Andrew James

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Be as clear as possible about what your vision may be for your project. There are no right or wrongs so I’m open to any ideas from the writer.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: Lady Gaga. The talent is immense and diverse.

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: I co-wrote and tracked the vocals for a military charity record that charted in the UK and raised money and awareness for the charity.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I will always do the very best I can for each project.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Meeting great people.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Am I happy to help with the track/project further than just singing or producing exactly what has been asked for at the start? Yes. So often, songs change as they are recorded and it's important to stay true to the writer/s initial brief whilst being open to any revisions. I'm also pleased to make suggestions in a polite and friendly manner, and, not take offence at all if they are not right for the client!

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What is your general style and journey with music so far? What is the timeline for a particular project? Are you open to creative suggestions on performance and slight changes of structure etc?

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Apollo Twin / Macbook Pro / Shure SM7B / Komplete Kontrol S49 / Shure SRH840 headphones

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Never let the temptation to use all your 'toys' get in the way of a great melody/vocal.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Singer-songwriter.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: People skills followed by vocal work. I'm also very organised.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: Logic Pro X on Mac with AUD Apollo Twin interface. I use Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 for my controller as I love the Fatar keybed inside... plays like my Nord Stage 3 88.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Foy Vance... songwriting and performance is out of this world. Seen him live in Nashville, London and Liverpool. Brothers Landreth... I love their production and style. You can go a long way to learn from someone better than the legend Dave Pensado!

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: Vocal top lines and harmonies and help with writing/composing those parts.
