Gary is awesome & I'd give more stars if I could. He goes above and beyond, is creative, intuitive, great to work with and just really really good. I'll never look elsewhere for any trumpet/flugel needs.

Such a satisfying experience working with Gary, he really thinks about how to approach a song and give you something truly artful! His trumpet parts really gave my song Contact High the finishing touch and made it unique. Will definitely be working with him again.

Excellent playing again, gave the part which had some tricky timing a wonderful sense of warmth, depth and feeling (and added some extra takes to give additional comping choices) Look forward to working with Gary again.

Stellar work! Gary was engaged with the track from the offset and worked quickly and professionally on his parts. He really added to the vibe of the track and lifted it into a new dimension!
His fee also included assistance with production and his mixing and mastering insights were incredibly useful. Can't wait to work with him again!

Interview with Gary Alesbrook
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I performed trumpet on the soundtrack to Guy Ritchie's "The Man From Uncle." That was fun. I love the pressure and work ethic of playing to film or TV. I've been involved with a few movies and lots of TV and it's always exciting.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: All the people I work for and the diverse projects I am sent.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You need someone with a proven track record, great reviews and an established reputation in their field. Don't be tempted to cut costs by hiring a cheap session musician. Like in all fields, "you get what you pay for."
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I always wanted to be a session musician and I have been doing this for 21 years working and recording with high profile artists.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I've spent countless hours in studios achieving the perfect sound from trumpet and flugelhorn. Mic placement is so important.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: This genuinely differs. So far this year I have recorded hip-hop, christian rock, indie, pop, jazz, funk, the list goes on...
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I work fast and accurately, layering horns in all genres of music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I tend to receive the tracks after we've had a conversation of the type of sound and style the client is looking for. Once i've received the files I get to work. The way I differ is, I will send the track back to you with the horns roughly mixed in so you can get an idea of what it might sound like, instead of listening to an uninspiring dry trumpet file to review! I also stand out as I always double track section work to give it a huge sound. After that, the client get's 2 revisions included to really get the sound they are after. Finally, I send the dry files over and everyone's happy :-)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: flexible
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "Can you do a mariachi solo?" ....of course :-)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The icing on the cake that is...horns :-)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: It varies but typically I arrange and play horns for all genres of albums.
