Hey there! My name is Jonas Schütz. I am a professional drummer from Germany. Do you need very high quality live drums for your song or album? You've come to the right place! Lets start! I offer to track live drums for your project! I love to write and record drums for many different genres. I also program drumtracks. Just feel free to message me!

I offer live tracked drums for many different genres! I love to play Metal music but of course I'm also able to play Rock, Pop, Blues and Jazz.
If needed, I can write drum parts for your song but you also can give me your ideas for the song and I'll record them for you!
After everything has been discussed, I will record the drums and afterwards you'll get a high quality mp3 demo of your song including my drums. If you are happy with the result, I will send you all 18 individual tracks of the recorded drums.

I'm using a Tama Silverstar Acrylic kit,10"/12"/14"/16"/ Toms, 22x16" Kick and it's currently set up with a Tama Warlord 14"x6" Snare.

I'm using Evans drumheads, currently my kit is equipped with Evans EC2 clear batter heads and mostly G1 clear reso heads. On the Kick I have an Evans EMAD 2 clear.

I'm using all Meinl Cymbals.

I am a repeat customer and am very pleased as usual. Jonas has great feel and technique to go along with being very easy to work with. Add in that he has a fresh new setup for even better sound and he is a wonderful option!

    Jonas is simply amazing!
Besides the technical ability, creativity and the easiest workflow I've experienced here, he is very concerned about quality and is always looking for better results, buying news mics, new cables, new Audio Interface, upgrading recording room acoustics and, of course getting new hardware for his already huge collection of drums (snares, cymbals etc). He really stands out as a session musician and recording artist!
    Thank you again Jonas!
    Keep up the incredible work!

Jonas is an outstanding professional. He works very efficiently and communicates often; he brings great ideas to the table and is very receptive to feedback and direction; and he is a genuinely impressive drummer! His raw takes, pre-editing, are insanely tight and on time. Also, his drum kit sounds fantastic - great tones that blend so well with metal guitars. Would highly recommend.

  6. Review by Mark Coglan

Absolutely phenomenal job of drumming. I have been working with Jonas for several years now and I am accustomed to his incredible drumming and after listening to this song I am amazed. He still has the ability to absolutely wow me. The drums I got back were superb. His playing is so absolutely tasteful even on the heavy and fast stuff I usually play.

    Wow. Just wow. A++++

  8. Review by Ismael Gonzalez

Jonas is an extremely professional, competent and skilled drummer, he was able to provide me with the sound I needed for my project and was was very open to my feedback and requests. He's an amazing interpreter and added the niche edge I was looking for, everything was delivered in a timely, professional manner. I would highly recommend Jonas to anyone looking for drums, especially if you have a heavier track in need of some higher energy and support from behind the kit, he's simply amazing!

I have used Jonas for several songs and have never been disappointed. Jonas is a solid drummer. He is able to nail every song I have given him with a short turnaround time. I will be using Jonas for many more songs!

  12. Review by Chris R.

Jonas is one of those rare drummers who really knows the genres he excels in, but has the musical chops to step outside of it in service of the song. This is why I work with him. I send him demos, some vague notes and he turns it into gold on just a few passes. It never feels like we're out of sync which makes collaboration a breeze. I have more songs in the works and will be working with Jonas again in the not too distant future! You should too.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Jonas. Drums were completed to perfection, he was quick, and he was very willing to make small adjustments along the way to suite my tastes. I would definitely work with Jonas again. Highly recommended!!!

  14. Review by Mark C.

I have worked with Jonas for several years now and I am quite used to being impressed and amazed by his work by now. Well, this time he absolutely floored me. The clever fills, the obvious overall talent and just the taste he uses in coming up with the beats is really incredible. Recommended X 1,000,000!

  15. Review by Chris R.

This is the second song I've worked on with Jonas. This one was an 8 minute prog anthem that is basically two long builds so it needed a performance that leaned heavily on dynamics, performance and nuance. Bringing his typical professionalism and creativity, Jonas and I worked through a few revisions of the song until he had it dialed in just right. I can't say enough good things about this dude's work and, if you haven't already hired him for your next job, what are you waiting for?

  16. Review by Anatoly F.

Jonas are a talented musician and a reliable partner in music-creating.
He takes the collaboration process very seriously and tries to get the results that the both parts would love. Thank you, Jonas!

  17. Review by Riad A.

Jonas is a superb drummer and knows his craft. He is fast, reliable and to the point. He understands what's needed and is able to put to work. He adapts quickly to the songs needs.I really had nothing to complain. I def can recommend Jonas and for sure I will be back if I have more to track.
    It was my pleasure.

  18. Review by Chris R.

What can I say about Jonas? The man is a metal machine. And I didn't make it easy on him. I handed him an 8 minute beast of a piece which Jonas skillfully wrote a basic version of the song, then whittled it down until the drums were slamming! He was super easy to work with, super receptive to feedback on the parts, and super willing to help make sure the song reached its full potential. I can't thank him enough for his professionalism and talent. His work has really elevated our music.

  19. Review by Oha Cade

Once again Jonas has delivered beyond my expectations. He really cares about getting it right and is so easy to work with. The final product has been elevated so much and I'm very thankful!

    Absolutely incredible. Again. A+++++

Interview with Jonas Schütz

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: My promise to my clients is my professional work mentality. I want you to be happy with the product I want to make for you and I don't have any shortcuts!

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: I like the creative aspect that comes with everything music related! It's also absolutely awesome for me to be able to do the thing I love most and make a living from it!

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: "Recording drums doesn't take time, it's super easy and super cheap." It takes a lot of time to master the instrument so that you are able to record something for clients from all around the world. It also takes a lot of equipment (like microphones etc.) to make the drums sound as good as possible, so it's not cheap.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I'd love to work with the above-mentioned Adam "Nolly" Getgood to get some more insights on how he works and to get some tips and tricks for recording and mixing.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Explain your project as detailed as possible right from the start, as it will make the process of recording and writing drum parts a lot faster and stress-free for both sides.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: For recordings I'm using two Focusrite Firewire interfaces (Liquid 56 as main, Saffire Pro 40 as slave for 8 additional channels) that go straight into my custom built PC running Windows 7 Ultimate and Cubase Pro 8. The PC has got 32GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 running at 3,7 GHz, 3TB harddrive and a 256GB SSD built into it.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: Typically I first write some drums to a song that I think fit the needs of a song. I always want to work for the song and the music. After the drums are written, I then proceed to record them at the best of my abilities. After all the recordings are finished, I send them to the client.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: Tracking live drums, editing, cleaning and manual quantizing of the recorded tracks.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: I'm inspired by guys like Adam "Nolly" Getgood of Periphery, Anup Sastry (ex-drummer for the Band Monuments) and Alex Rüdinger (drummer for bands such as Threat Signal, The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia)

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: I bring my own style of playing into a song, I always want to make the best out of every song. For me, music is life.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: I play many styles of music. Mostly, I play Metal, but I also love to play Blues, Jazz, Rock and Pop.

  23. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  24. A: At the moment I'm working on several new Youtube-videos and content for my channel in general.

  25. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  26. A: I'd take my 6-piece Tama drumkit...wait...

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Never do 'fix it in the mix'. Get it right at the source!

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: My strongest skill would be my timing. I always try to play as precise and tight as possible.
