Interview with Miko Schulz

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I once mixed the microphone tracks in a theater. That was not easy as there were countless traces that had to be mixed perfectly. In retrospect, I am very proud of this work

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently working on a new album.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Since I am only new I can not recommend anyone. I hope that changes over time.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I love both. With digital possibilities you can increase your workflow enormously. But analog instruments still have more charm.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I work on your project until it is perfect. Otherwise they will get their money back.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love the creativity and versatility of my job. Every order is individual.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The questions are mostly different. So I can't give you the answer that happens the most.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Some people think I'm a pianist. But I play piano sounds on a keyboard rather than a grand piano.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Is it a problem that I am still relatively unknown and have not had much business experience?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Have a little patience. The result is all the better.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Probably a Macbook with my midi instruments, a midi keyboard, headphones, speakers and something to eat would also be good;)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I haven't been doing this for too long. I am still at the beginning of my path. But I hope that is not a problem. In the end, only the result is important.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I adapt my style to my customers. I try to put myself in the customer's shoes.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would like to work with Alan Walker one day. I am interested in his workflow and setup.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: If you are unsatisfied with your track you shouldn't give it up. Most of the time you are close to the desired result

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I like to work on EDM tracks. But I also love classical music. I like to work in different genres.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: To keep the focus and to choose the best from thousands of possibilities.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I put a lot of time and emotion into my songs. I'm only satisfied when the song is perfect.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I think of a cool melody and then I build my songs on it. After the Meldie I usually record a cool beat and then I perfect my songs.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a small studio setup. But I think that helps to focus on the most important thing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: The songs from "The Doors" inspire me. The songs from this band are just perfectly mixed.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I create melodies on the keyboard for my customers, synt melodies. I also mix songs and work on them until you are satisfied.
