Ok I know this looks crazy, but I'm working on an album, and I'm pretty much getting Leo to play on every track. Hence all my reviews.
You know when you find that person that just...gets your sound right away? I barely have to give him feedback because he typically nails it on the first try. Two more songs to go! hahaha
These reviews are pretty much writing themselves now. I swear Leo never disappoints! He sent me 3 different takes, played with such feel and style. I liked them all so much that I ended up taking parts from each and combining them to be one master take.
I'm being completely honest here, really. Hire him. We're already working on another track as you read this lol.
Even as Leo tours around Brazil, he was still able to deliver for one of my tracks. A few different takes, all of them useable and all of them amazing. The man knows dedication! If you haven't worked with him yet, what are you waiting for?
At this point, I may as well hire Leo full-time, because he has never disappointed me with his bass playing. Always efficient and more than willing to go above and beyond to get you what you want. Leo is the best!
This time around, it was my brother who needed some bass on one of his songs–so of course I suggested that Leo tackle the job. Once again, he delivered multiple takes with different flavors, and my bro was extremely satisfied. At this point I wish I could hire Leo full-time haha. Great job!
Once again, Leo delivered exactly what I was looking for. This is my 4th time working with him, and we didn't even need edits for this latest track. He nailed it first try! He provided me with different takes that all have different styles and flavors, allowing me to mix and match where I see fit. A pleasure to work with, and I'll definitely be back for a 5th.
Make it my 3rd time–I've been putting a project together and Leo continues to come through with the bass performances that I need to take my song to the next elvel. Plenty more to go!
This was my 2nd time working with Leo, and he continues to deliver great bass performances and high quality recordings. Exactly what I needed to take my song to the next level!
Leo is a very talented musician. He is easy to work with and very professional, extremely organized, and passionate about his craft. He is committed to giving you exactly what you need in order to produce a great song. I highly recommend him.
Leo did indeed provide a killer bassline! In fact, all the takes were superb in their slight differences, and I had an easy job comping together what I believe to be an epic sounding bassline for my song.
Leo is also super polite, patient and very communicative.
The bass line(s) I received were perfect for the track I was working on and the quality was just as professional as I was expecting. Leo communicated with me throughout the entire process, and the turnaround time was just as we had discussed. I will be a returning client!!!
Awesome as always!
Leo was fantastic to work with. He was very responsive and made sure that I had everything I needed for my song. Will definitely be working with him again in the near future!

Interview with Leo Cappi
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I don't remember myself before the music came into my life. I started studying piano at 5 years old, and electric bass at 9. It's what I'll do for the rest of my life, it's just the thing I love the most.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: In addition to being a studio musician, I work as a producer, arranger, and music teacher. However, lately the work I have done most is recording. I love it, the process of printing my music according to your demand is what moves me!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment, in addition to some freelances, I am acting as bassist and arranger for the album "Ainda atrás do pôr do sol", a re-recording and re-conception of the renowned album "Atrás do pôr do sol" by the Bahian singer and composer Lazzo Matumbi, a very important figure in affirmation and aesthetic construction of the black people of Bahia. The disc will feature important artists from the current Brazilian pop scene and should be released in early 2021.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would advise you to feel free to do anything that makes you feel comfortable working remotely. I know that sometimes working at a distance brings insecurity and anxiety. I am here to bring the result you expect for your music, and also to make the process as pleasant and smooth as possible. In other words, you can send me as many messages, references or questions as needed to make you feel comfortable. I will be listening to you with great pleasure and attention.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always try to start from what the music needs, to create a line that fits coherently with the whole. I can add a Brazilian or Latin flavor, always according to your taste and desire.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I try, before recording, to understand as much as possible what you want for your music. That done, I will send you as soon as possible the first version, adding my feeling. If the result is not what you expected, I will repeat this process as many times as necessary, always considering your feedback and any additional material as a reference, until reaching a result that satisfies your expectations
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I can provide a very mixed sound of Latin/Brazilian/African feel and the funky feel, i'd say that my bass style have a lot of influence of artists such as Richard Bona and Munir Hossn. That yould be my main sound. But i can also provide a lot of different sounds, i like to understand what you and your song want througt listen to your references and talking to you to get the best result as possible.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I love grooving. I am very familiar with different approaches to the slap technique, and I can adapt to any swing using these techniques. I am very fluent in the funk language, and in any genre of Brazilian or Latin music.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to be 100% committed to getting the best possible result. I am very flexible in the number of reviews and very communicative, i think that is needed to know you minimally to know what your sound looks like, and how I can contribute with it
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have worked with many musical styles, but Brazilian music has always been present in my professional life and in my heart. Currently I work on different projects of Brazilian pop / electronic music, always using regional elements of Brazilian music.
