nuh-key

Singer/Songwriter/BG Vocalist

nuh-key on SoundBetter

I write entire songs, do background vocals, collaborate with artist on lyrics/melodies, and create memorable hooks.

I'm a singer/songwriter who has been releasing music for 10+ years. My music comes from a place you can feel. It has evolved over time and with the times in terms of having a current sound that is still unique. My songs have been featured on playlists, and in magazines.

I specialize in R&B; alternative, afrobeat, and trap soul. I'm a poet who can give you a special intro, outro, or interlude. I can also produce lyrical and catchy rap songs. Need alto and/or soprano female background vocals? I can deliver. I can write full songs, hooks, help with finishing bars or coming up with creative melodies. Let me help you bring your vision to life.

I'm an artist myself, so your project will be just as personal to me as a project of my own. I'm very particular and only produce and deliver quality work. I've always written lyrics for myself, and helped friends with bars to finish verses and hooks. I've been asked over the years and recently to write songs for other artists. It's finally manifesting. Let's create something special!

Interview with nuh-key

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: You'll be more than satisfied with the end result.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Have a vision of what you want to accomplish, know your likes and dislikes, and have something to reference.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: An acoustic guitar, a phone for voice memos, headphones, a notebook, and a pen.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I've been in telecommunications since college but music has always been my passion and is the end goal. I started writing poetry at 8 years old. I started rapping and recording music in studios in high school. I built my studio piece by piece and started recording my own music I college. In 2021 I started singing, and have since crafted my sound in Patchwerk Studios. I just rebranded and will be releasing new music soon, under an artist name that embodies who I am: nuh-key. Stay tuned.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: I make chill/hype music that you can feel, that makes you think, and that serve a variety of moods. My voice is smooth and usually rides the beat.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I will collaborate with J. Cole and Drake one day. These are some of my oldest influences. I love Cole inside and out. 2018 Forest Hills Drive is my favorite album that I can play from start to finish and he performed every song on the album at a phenomenal concert. I've been a Drake fan since So Far Gone. He's never put himself in a box, and neither have I. His career is unapologetically built on his feelings and I respect that. Both these artist create timeless music and that has always been the goal.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Knowing "it" when I hear it, and staying focused until I produce "it." My strong suit is in cadence and melody.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I have an immaculate ear, turning emotion into rhythm and blending hypnotic beats with authentic cadences, and poetic storytelling.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I work in Pro Tools for iOS and frequently record at Patchwerk Studios in Atlanta.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: My influences include Erykah Badu and Jill Scott on soulful vibes, J. Cole on lyrical relatability, and Drake on variety, sound, and appeal.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: I most commonly provide features for artists. I recently started ghostwriting for artist completing hooks and full songs.
