vbnd on SoundBetter

I am a recording artist currently signed with UK based label "DeepMatter". I have acquired over 53 million streams on Spotify so far. I'm always looking to help other artists bring their songs to life, as I've done with many other local musicians, you can be the first online musician I help!

Primarily interested in laying down some bass for your song, however, I'm also available to produce music for rappers/singers/instrumentalists for the right price.

I handle every aspect of my early and future releases in terms of sound. I record all my own parts, mix and master my own tunes, and I play most of the instruments (unless working with my band: The Soulmate Collective).

I take pride in my musical ability and everything I've released. I also take pride in my ability to listen to what you need! (will not over play/produce unless requested to do so)

If you're unsure then I would invite you to listen to my music, if you're still not sold then that is totally okay!

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

vbnd's playing style was so perfect for the song I was producing. I couldn't recommend them enough, especially if you are doing anything r&b adjacent. Easy going communication, and insane playing (in the best way)

Interview with vbnd

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: A healthy mix. Can't beat analog preamps for bass though ;)

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I've been playing bass for 7 years, I've also played guitar for 17 and I've been making beats for 12.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I just finished a 15 track album, letting the label handle all the back end stuff. It was a task lol.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Natty Reeves recommended I try this out. Definitely go to him if you're looking for expert level guitar/production work.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: You'll be happy with the track, if not then we will work closely until it's up to snuff, if still not then it's money back time hahaha

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I just like playing/recording/making music. I also absolutely love helping people out.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What is the mood of the track? What are you trying to convey? Do you want me to go full funk mode?

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: Lately it's been a lot of funk, lots of notes (when there should be) and very melodic. I love having fun on a track or during a performance.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: The dream would be to work and learn from the man himself, D'Angelo. Or Questlove. Either of those two. They're my heroes.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I play a lot of Neosoul, funk, blues, jazz, pretty much anything soul related. However I've also been known to play punk and rock.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I feel like I'm a great bass player, I've been on stage with multiple bands and have a lot of experience bouncing off musicians.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: In terms of bass session work, I'll bring pocket for days, depending on what the client needs it can be either busy or specifically spaced. You gotta play for the song, man. If you're familiar with the music I put out then you can expect the same quality or production work.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I have a studio in my home. It's not much, quite humble, but it gets the job done. I also have access to high end studios if need be.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: I'm always listening to all types of music. A lot of the alumni from the label that I'm with, DeepMatter, always keep me on my toes, specifically Simon Jefferis, Natty Reeves, and Pyjaen. I listen to a lot of D'angelo as well, and you can't be a bassist without liking Vulfpeck.
