Birch Pereira on SoundBetter

Does your track need some melodic upright or electric bass? Does your americana/jazz song need some producing? Get in touch and let's see what we can do!

I've been a professional musician in the Northwest area for over twenty years, playing bass (upright and electric) with a variety of artists from different genres like the Paperboys, Bria Skonberg, Common Market, Jenn Grinnels, The Polyrythmics, Picoso, Grynch, March to May and more. I'm also the lead singer and producer of my throwback 50s sounding project Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints which was nominated for an Independent Music Award for my version of St. James Infirmary and best album by Earshot Jazz for my 2016 album "Dream Man." In another life I ran the Hip Hop/EDM group Theoretics which was featured on the radio station KEXP and charted some NW hits. I've always been as interested in the recording process as the writing one and bring a unique sound to the table. As a bassist I love a melodic flatwound sound and always approach my playing in a lyrical, but down to get funky way. As a producer I draw heavy inspiration from the Muscle Shoals era of rhythm section driven music where each player brings their own groovy earworms to the arrangement.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

I have worked with Birch a few times in the past as well as finding him here in SoundBetter. He is easy to work with, understands what I’m trying to convey in the music, provides useful feedback, can compose and play a killer bass line on electric or upright. This last project is for an alt rock song, but I have had him play on jazz songs. His talent and understanding is diverse. Being a songwriter himself, Birch sees the whole picture and dependably delivers just right.
