Daniel Salazar (Danonthebeat) on SoundBetter

Hi, I'm Danonthebeat, instagram @danonthebeat_, a music producer from Bogota Colombia based in New York City. I would love to be part of your project so we can both combine forces for the best of your project!

I've been into music since I was pretty much born. Thanks to the cultural heritage and musical training that my family gave to me, I have gained various skills that range from taking your vocals to the next level, to completely producing your song from start to finish.

I play guitar, bass, and sing, so I can guarantee a very musical insight on your project that, combined with my desire to discover new music, will make it an incredible experience for both of us.

My fortes are Pop, Reggaeton, Trap and most of the Latino genres (I also do rock and metal lml).

Things that I can do for you:
* Produce your song
* Record vocals for your song
* Make a song for you
* Play Guitar or Bass in your song
* Make you a Beat/Groove of your choosing
* Edit your vocals and/or suggest harmonies, doubles and ad libs
* Coffee, the best one from Colombia ;)

Interview with Daniel Salazar (Danonthebeat)

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: So far, 'Llorando' is one of my favorite projects because it's a project where I participated as a composer, producer, engineer, and artist alongside my brother Angelo, formerly known as Weider. It's a song I feel a strong connection with my followers because it features lyrics and a melody typical of Latin pop ballads but with an urban twist in my production, especially in the drums, which, in my view, contributed to a great production.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I would say the one that excites me the most right now is the project I have with a Syrian or American singer, creating urban pop Arabic music with a very cool sound that is currently trending in North Africa. It's something very different from what I had done before, and it has been a significant challenge and, of course, a process of continuous learning. I'm eager for you to be able to listen to it soon

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not really, Im pretty new.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I like analog, especially for the saturation it adds to my sounds. In terms of workflow, I feel that the long-term cost-benefit relationship favors digital because of the practicality of having all the equipment in virtual programs on your computer, which you can take with you on your palette. Companies like Universal Audio have done a great job with these hardware-based products.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My commitment to my clients is to provide them with a top-quality, musical product that will be competitive in the music market in 2023.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I like the most is the opportunity to meet a wide variety of artists, each with their own unique worlds, and to be able to learn and grow musically with them.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Usually, it is related to the payment method. Typically, in the production contract, it starts with 60%, and the remainder is paid upon receiving the first mix. The rest of the services are paid upfront.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I would say it's in relation to mastering. Basically, what mastering does is, through various processes, it optimizes the final audio resulting from the mixing process. The mastering engineer aims to make this production sound the best it can, meeting the highest industry standards. This ensures that it sounds optimal on sound systems in cars, high-end speakers, nightclub sound systems, smartphones, portable speakers, and headphones of all shapes and price ranges

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Who are your top three musical influences? What are your objectives for the production you'd like to collaborate on with me? What is your vision for your project one year from now?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: One important piece of advice is to look for a producer whose catalog sounds the way you want to sound. Also, it's crucial that they bring positive energy to the work environment, ensuring a healthy and friendly atmosphere. They should be someone who can meet deadlines while also being flexible to accommodate changes and feedback.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Universal Audio LA-2A Universal Audio 1176 Black Box Analog Design HG-2 GML 8200 by George Massenburg Labs Solid State Logic (SSL) Duality

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My parents gifted me my first guitar when I was 13 years old, and a year later, I acquired my first electric guitar. With it, I began to explore the realm of metalcore, playing in various bands throughout my adolescence, experiencing substantial local growth along the way. Following my high school graduation, I decided to pursue music studies with a focus on commercial composition, sound engineering, and audio production. During my academic journey, I engaged in multiple musical projects, assuming roles such as a sound engineer, music producer, and recording engineer, among others. It was in 2016, while in San Antonio, Texas, that I ventured into the Trap genre and approached my career as a music producer with even greater commitment. Over the years, I have released productions in collaboration with various artists, serving as an artist, producer, vocal coach, recording engineer, and mixing engineer. I have always been dedicated to guiding and supporting all legal considerations pertinent to projects of this nature. Nowadays, I am focused on continued growth and delivering a responsible and high-quality online service for my clients.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My sound is a blend of Afro-Latin and Western pop influences, drawing from Latin America, North America, and Europe. More recently, I've also been influenced by Nigerian and North African sounds. Sonically, I aim to achieve a pristine, luxurious sound with a strong impact and aggressiveness that captivates the listener, compelling them to revisit the song repeatedly to relive the listening experience.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Feid. I feel that he is an incredible artist with an understanding of the Latin and American music market, offering captivating melodies and spectacular lyrics. Additionally, he has top-notch beats for the dance floor.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Parallel processing is the key to precision and meticulous automation.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: The music I primarily work with is urban music, derived from hip-hop and the Latin trend that originated from reggaeton and trap. However, I have also extensively explored other genres such as afrobeats and house

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I would say that my strongest ability is my combined analytical and executive capacity to analyze productions and conceptualize intricate musical elements within instrumentation. I then apply these concepts to my clients' productions to maximize the quality of their songs.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I would say that the perspective of a music lover and professional spans across Latin, Anglo, African, and European rhythms due to the multicultural environment I was exposed to during my entire childhood and most of my life in Colombia. I also had the opportunity to live in France, and I currently reside in Brooklyn, where I have been able to immerse myself in the city's sound and connect with many talents from whom I constantly learn and grow.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: As a music producer, I offer a comprehensive package, including beat creation, vocal recording with guidance, songwriting assistance, editing, tuning, mixing, mastering, legal documentation, and distribution. I start by crafting a custom beat to match your style. Then, I record and guide your vocals, help with songwriting, and meticulously edit, tune, and mix your track. Finally, I handle mastering and all legalities for a smooth, stress-free music-making experience.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: While the majority of my process takes place in digital environments ( in the box ), I highly value and consistently seek opportunities to introduce analog saturation at various stages of my work. This includes vocal recording when I choose to work in one of the several studios in Brooklyn and Manhattan that I frequently visit for this task, as well as in the mixing and mastering processes where I apply saturation through analog compressors and processors. For me, the portability and processing quality offered by plugins, such as those from Universal Audio, to name a few, have a significant impact on the creative process, regardless of the limitation of working in a fixed space.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: On the production side, these would include producers such as Tainy, Andres Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, Sky, Albert Hype, Chris Jeday, Haze Musicólogo and Menes, Scott Storch, Metro Boomin, Ovy On The Drums, Mike WiLL Made-It, Los legendarios, Jaycen Joshua, Josh Goodwin, Mosty, Icon Music, Joey Sturgis, and The Rudeboyz.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The work I do most for my clients would be stem mixing, vocal and instrumental mixes, voice recordings with vocal coaching, and complete music productions.
