Endorse J.R. ParedesI have been working with J.R. for years now and he has helped us through the process of recording and producing 2 full length albums. Nothing but quality all around from this guy and Satellite Studios. So much so that he has helped us reach Top 40 charts worldwide. Very easy to work with and loaded with creativity. Highly recommended.
Hands down one of the best producers to work with out of the Houston area. He doesnt make it about himself. The artist or band always comes first and that is very rare these days. You won't find another producer with more patience and understanding and determination. It'll be one of the best experiences you'll ever have working with J.R Paredes!
We have worked with J.R. for several years now. We've continued with him because of his level of expertise and his professionalism. He is gifted and skilled in making your sound...yours. We would highly recommend J.R. to our closest friends as we know that he exceeds the expectations of his clients.
Interview with J.R. Paredes
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Follow your instincts! Don't overthink, and keep things simple. If it sounds good and feels good, it IS good.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work mainly with rock (from folk to metal and anything in between), pop, country, Christian, and indie artists.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Feels So Right" by Mike Donnell Band. I co-produced, recorded, and mixed this album. The songs were amazing to begin with, and everything came together beautifully when recording and mixing it. I'm also really proud of a recent album I produced for Bad Luck Prodigy called "Enlightenment." Those guys really trusted me and allowed me to leave my sonic footprint on that record, and we were all thrilled with how it came out.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I pour my heart into every single project that comes my way, and I always aim to fully capture the true essence of a song and to make sure it truly represents the client's vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: EVERYTHING. It's my dream job!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My background as a classical composer/musician allows me to see the "big picture" of each song like a composer or a conductor would. When producing a song, I'm constantly thinking about orchestration, form/structure, arrangement, timbres, and textures. When mixing, I always determine what should be foreground, middleground, and background in any section of the song, and I like to ride faders to create "drama" and moments of "impact" in a mix.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is centered around a Pro Tools HDX system, a Slate Raven MTX touchscreen console, Focal Twin Be monitor speakers, and a good amount of outboard gear
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The Beatles and producer George Martin have been the biggest musical influences in my life.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am mainly a producer for bands, pop singers, and singer/songwriters. I do a lot of mixing work as well.
