Interview with Deyvi Simé

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of the projects I’m especially proud of is my work on the album "Este Soy Yo" by Héctor Acosta “El Torito.” I wrote three songs for that album, which was nominated for Best Merengue and/or Bachata Album at the 23rd Latin Grammy Awards. Being part of such a meaningful and high-level project was a dream come true.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Expressing myself with my music.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: What’s the story or message you want the song to tell? What mood or emotions are you aiming to express? Are there any reference songs or artists that capture the style you want? What’s your timeline?

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: Any artist influence,

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: The best songs come from honest communication and trust between artist and writer. Share your feelings, ideas, and goals upfront, this helps me craft lyrics and melodies that truly represent your story. Also, be patient with the creative process, great songs take time to develop.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: One acoustic guitar, a small sound recorder, and 3 sets of guitar strings :)

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I wrote my first song when I was just 12. Music has been my passion ever since, with over 25 years of dedication to songwriting and singing. Today, I continue to write, blending traditional Latin rhythms with modern influences to create songs that connect deeply with audiences.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

Juan Luis Guerra’s musicality and elegance, Arjona’s storytelling, and Sanz’s emotional depth.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Keep it simple. Don’t overthink, some of the most powerful songs are built on just a great melody, honest lyrics, and a clean arrangement. Simplicity lets the message shine and keeps the listener connected to what really matters, the feeling.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: My process always starts with listening to the artist, their vision, and the emotion behind the project. If I’m writing a song from scratch, I like to understand the message, then build lyrics and melody that reflect the mood and genre.

  29. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  30. A: Boss GT 1, Universal Audio apollo twin.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I’m deeply inspired by songwriters and artists who bring raw emotion and storytelling to their music. In the Latin world, legends like Juan Luis Guerra, Romeo Santos, Ricardo Arjona have shaped the way I write, combining poetic lyrics with melodies that linger in the heart.
