Over the years I've recorded drums for clients all over the world: USA, England, Canada, Dubai, Egypt and many more. Different countries, different genres, same approach – your song comes first.
Not long ago, making a record meant getting everyone into the same room on the same day. Today, remote drum recordings are a normal part of how music gets made – and I've been working this way successfully for several years now.
I've been a professional drummer for a long time, and I still love nothing more than being creative in my drum studio. The distance has changed, the rest hasn't. Interaction, working on a vision together, sharing ideas – that's still what turns a recording session into music instead of a file transfer.
Whether you want to replace or complete your programmed drums with the energy and individuality of a real player, or you need someone to write and record the right drum tracks for your song from scratch – you'll get feel, groove and energy, played with passion and captured with care.

Interview with Torsten Bugiel
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I was lucky enough to record at the legendary Real World Studios. I would love to go back there.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Here too... your ears :D
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work within the pop/rock genre, though I also have a great love for Nashville country-pop. I also delve deeply into odd time signatures and world music influences, extending all the way to progressive and fusion styles.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listen and participate
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always place myself and my skills at the service of the song. Above all, I listen closely to what the song is telling me and what it needs to shine.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically, the client sends me a demo and—if available—a separate file containing programmed drums. After briefly discussing how much weight the programmed guide track should carry, I record an initial version and send it back as a stereo demo mix to ensure we are heading in the right direction sonically. Clients often have specific ideas about what they want to hear, particularly regarding the choice of snare drums. Naturally, the fundamental sound of the kit is also a key factor—whether it should be an open, modern sound à la Simon Phillips or lean towards a vintage vibe with short, dry tones.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup features various microphones from brands such as DPA, Neumann, Sennheiser, and HEIL. I record via an Allen & Heath console at a native resolution of 96 kHz. Cubase Pro (latest version) is my DAW of choice, though I can also work with other DAWs—such as Ableton Live, Logic, etc.—upon request.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by all kinds of handmade, authentic music and art. The studio scenes in Nashville and LA—and their sounds—are a major source of inspiration for me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Today, remote drum recordings are a normal part of how music gets made – and I've been working this way successfully for several years now. I've recorded drums for clients all over the world: USA, England, Canada, Dubai, Egypt and many more. Different countries, different genres, same approach – your song comes first.
