Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I usually focus on bringing to every track a little bit of the magic of a live session: No matter how prepared the production is, I still input some form of improvised "surprise" to it! That is why I usually record directly (dawless) my music ideas into the 32 physical tracks of my mixer (Computers only come to work after AFTER, if and when needed)..
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Work hard on anything you do: be precise, but do not overdo it (no need for re-recording the vocals 40times!), 'cause in most cases, it looses the power of the initial approach
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually record directly (dawless) my music takes (ideas) into the 32 physical tracks of my mixing console (20+12). After that, I have up to 32 high quality tracks that I can take to my DAW on MacOS to work on: edit, pre-mix, equalize, fine-tune, add needed effects, etc... When everybody involved (near or far)) is satisfied with their input and additions, then, we go on to mixing during a minimum of 2-3 days... Finally, I put on my mastering "shoes" and finalise the production. I usually propose 2-3 final versions to the "last person in charge of deciding".
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Sting, Manu Chao, Keith Jarrett, Stevie Wonder... but also Gotye, Stromae, Francis Cabrel, Gabriel o Pensador, Pablo Milanes, Tania Maria, Bob Marley, Dave Brubeck...
