Singer/Song-writer/Double Bass

Professional singer and bass player with ten years touring experience. I'm steeped in the blues & country end of American trad and can bring serious groove and authenticity to your track. Whether it's a bang-on bass line you need, a melt-your-heart vocal, glorious harmonies or glistening lyrics, I got you!

My sound and style are rooted in the early music of the southern American states. I've worked as an integral part of the UK's Appalachian scene (Cut-A-Shine, Jerry Bloom, Stompin' Dave, Aaron Jonah Lewis), and with a broad collective of musicians and songwriters, playing and singing Delta blues, early jazz and country (Felix Holt, Robert Chaney, Leonie Evans). I've also spent time busking in New Orleans, honing that gospel/jug/old-time/rhythm & blues style of the street corners and dive bars where I learnt to play it.

You can hear all these influences in my songwriting, but with my own, contemporary style blended in. It's that blend of roots and reinvention that caught the attention of Van Morrison, who my band Bouche were invited to support. It also led me to a bass-playing stint with Applewood Road, and more recently a run at The Playground Theatre in 'The Jazz Age', alongside Grammy-winning musician and composer Darren Berry, and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire João Mello (David Gilmour, Razorlight, Tankus the Henge).
