I run a recording studio in Sacramento, CA. I also do mixing, editing and production for people all over the country.
My goal is to make the artist I'm working for happy. When I was a young guy playing in bands, the biggest challenge was getting a quality recording on the limited budget we had. We would spend thousands of dollars and not be very satisfied with the product we ended up with. These days I want to help people that are in the same position I was. I normally charge more than the rate I listed on here but I stumbled across this site and love the idea, so I figured I'd set my prices low to get going on Soundbetter. I'm looking forward to working with the Soundbetter community and can't wait to help you with your next project.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.
Interview with Kenny1smoke
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: If I'm working with a band I am normally recording the tracks, editing, vocal tuning and then mixing the project. Sometimes I'm only involved in one or two parts of the process but most of the time it's from start to finish. I can master tracks but I normally recommend sending mixed tracks to someone who specializes in that. With Hip Hop artists, I will work with them to create a beat or perfect something they already have. Once they are happy with the beat we track the lyrics and sometimes modify the beat again to work off the lyrics. I then mix the song and again, can master it but recommend sending it out for mastering.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'd say pretty much all musicians inspire me. My father played guitar, piano, fiddle and mandolin while I was growing up and my mother played upright bass. Music has been ingrained in me and I love being a part of it.
