Looking for someone to mix and master whilst retaining the sincere and organic character of your material? Look no further. With 15 years' experience within London's underground scene, Très-vain specialises in delivering mixes at their highest potential without over-polishing the final product. Mixes will sound as unique as the individual creators.
Minky Très-vain is an English musician, mix and master engineer, and producer. Having spent the last fifteen years making records in the London underground garage and punk scene, Très-vain is opening up his services to this international platform.
Priding himself on giving the artist exactly what they can hear in their head, Très-vain follows an Albini-esque philosophy of providing a service rather than an opinion unless asked, and translating artists' intent into a full sounding mix regardless of the recording budget.
Having started his mixing career by producing lofi noise-punk records, Très-vain's discography has shown nothing but growth. Whilst the level of polish may change from record to record, the organic trademark of his mixes have persevered.

A pleasure to work with - thank you!
I have worked with Minky on several occasions, and I can firmly say that he is without a doubt the most talented producer that I know. Minky consistently delivers a first-class quality service, and his ability to comfortably work with pretty much any type of music - be it punk, art rock, metal, dubstep, folk, country, you name it - is one of his strongest suits. If you are looking for a producer who will help bring out your full potential and who will take your music to the next level with his mixes, then Minky is your man. I can not recommend him enough!
I am currently working on a full-length studio record, produced by Minky, who I admire as a true professional. He has the correct results-oriented attitude: Time is not wasted in his production booth, nor do musicians in the booth lose the joy of music. Some of the best takes we recorded were when Minky went out of his way to cater to musicians' creative instincts. No creative idea presented to him has been beyond him. Unafraid to contribute his own ideas too, applying polish to my songwriting and written scores.
Simply put: A joy to work with.
He has produced, mixed and mastered multiple albums of mine, and I can say without a doubt that he has been completely professional, listened and understood all of my intentions, implemented them and when requested offered his own criticism and praise and professional opinion to improve those intentions. And the records that have come out are all the better for it. Could not ask for a more understanding and talented Musician and Producer to work with.
Interview with Minky Très-vain
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Currently working from a small studio set-up in London, Très-vain has connections across the capital with access to studio spaces of varying sizes and cost.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: His early career having been hugely influenced by American, guitar-driven musicians and producers such as Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, and Steve Albini, Très-vain's interests in production have grown and expanded drastically over the last few years to include artists such as Donald Glover, Finneas O'connell, and Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, whilst maintaining a strong back-bone of experimentation akin to Damon Albarn's work-ethic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Historically, Très-vain has had a very hands-on approach to his producing and mixing. Working closely with the artist, he strives to capture exactly what they can hear in their heads whilst writing their material. To do this, Très-vain would often work with the artist in the rehearsal space prior to recording taking place, ensuring that he and they were on the same page from day one of a project. Since the covid19 pandemic it has instead been more common for Très-vain to receive fully recorded stems from the artist, with the material having been recorded by the artist themselves or by a studio local to them. Endeavouring to continuously maintain his clients' satisfaction with the final mixes, Très-vain has taken great care to preserve strong communication with the artist despite the remote nature of the work.
