Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to do my best every single time just like it's my song to ensure your vision is achieved and you have a product to be proud of.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask touch questions and pay attention to their attitude and how they answer them. Their tone and attitude even through messaging will be indicative of how it will be to work with them. Trust your gut and chose the person that you think will best be able to carry out your vision.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Lalah Hathaway. She would elevate me as an artist and just the goal of working with her being actualize would justify all the struggles and sacrifices over the years to being a popular singer.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B, Soul, Pop and Gospel. I also sing standards.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to allow the music and the spirit of the song to dictate the direction of the song along with the vision of the client.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a genuine desire to have the song be the best song that it can possible be. Just because you are a talented singer doesn't mean that the song is all about you. Sometimes it's the guitar or the horns that's the star of the show and best help to conway the spirit of the song. Having an understanding of that helps there to be a cohesive body of work at the end of the process.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I try to get a clear vision of what the client want and need out of the song when I'm writing. Once that is clear, I totally engulf myself into the song and I allow the music to inspire the words. If the client has words already and just needs either a melody or maybe just a recorded performance, I ensure that what ever creative embellishment I provide is totally in the line with the emotion and feel of the song along with the client's vision.
