Interview with Lia

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: A quality product, good communication and professionalism.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My vocal sound is unique and it has been compared many times to some of the best female vocalists out there. Writing melody is one of my favourite parts of the songwriting process.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: I first listen to the song and any references uninterrupted to get a feeling for the vibe and to get down some initial ideas that come to mind. After a short break, I continue working on the song to further develop and enhance it. I then send over a rough demo just to get feedback and to see if I'm going in the right direction. After the feedback, I make whatever changes need to be made.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I'm working on my third studio album and I'm really excited about it.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: Austin Leeds is a great guy if you're looking for mixing and mastering.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: That I only do a certain style of music.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I help you take your song to the next level and get it "radio-ready".

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I use Logic Pro X, Audio Technika AT4050 Condenser Mic, SE Project Studio Reflexion Filter, Apogee Duet interface, Focal Alpha 50 studio monitors, Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro studio headphones

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Be as detailed as possible when explaining your ideas for how you want your track to sound.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Soulful

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Be authentic!

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: I usually work in genres like Soul, RnB and Pop, however, I like the diversity and I also sing EDM, Singer/Songwriter, Folk, Reggae, etc.

  25. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  26. A: Digital. It's how I got into producing music.

  27. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  28. A: I typically ask a client if they have any reference songs I could listen to, to get a better understanding of the song.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: There are so many great artists out there. One that I'd love to work with is Robert Glasper. He's an amazing piano player with an incredible band and stage performance.

  31. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  32. A: I just love creating music and I love sharing the process with collaborators / clients.

  33. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
