Malte S

Music Production, Songwriter

Malte S on SoundBetter

I'm an multiinstrumentalist, songwriter and music producer. Being an artist myself my strength is catchy melodys and all sorts of hooks, as well as producing a full beat, a song or just a vibe. I am also available for mixing jobs.

I am an autoditact, but since my youth i did attend songwriting courses, masterclasses and workshops (for example from the legendary Ryan Tedder, or Alicia Keys).

Since my highschool days i am writing, recording and producing songs for myself as well as for others / with others. Topline melody writing, lyrics writing and laying out a tracks production became a second nature, so to speak. I also can create whole beats from scratch or just a vibe if you like for you to write on. I come from the background of pop song making. But sonically and lyrically i am flexible and can adapt to whatever your genre and vision is.

Feel free to contact me! If you want send me a (short) demo or idea and tell me about your vision.

Every record is unique. Let's make yours.

Interview with Malte S

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: That i get to do what i love, everyday.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: It's easy and it needs no skills, everybody can do it. That's a common misconception from people who are not musicians themselves. They don't see the years of training that previously got into it.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Laptop, U87, UAD Interface, Cable, Electric Guitar.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: Catchy. Melody-driven. Unique.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: Taylor Swift. Because i like her songwriting abilities.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Breaks! (Yes this means more than one or two things.)

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: Popmusic.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Catchy Hooks. In every form.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: My ears. My gift of melody. Work ethic. Knowledge of years of writing.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: Of course it depends on what i want to do. A typical work process of a songwriting session would be: Starting with a vibe. Than looping that. Writing on top of it. Recording while writing. Mapping the whole thing out. Building the track/beat. Than taking a break. Re-access with fresh ears. Fixing and making changes. Done is the demo.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: It's quite simplistic. I have two KRK 8's. A laptop with Ableton and a lot of plugins and sounds. I got a M Audio Venom as a Synth and Midikeyboard. I have a BCF2000 that i could use for better mixing control. I got a tascam to record small ideas. XM1800S Microphone. As well as a SCT 700 for Leadvocals. I got two HB Acoustic Guitars, one HB Electric and one Fender E-Bass. I got ATH-M50x's as headphones. Oh and i got a cool thing i really like it's the Abbey Road Studio 3 by Waves. It's a virtual mixing space that emulates the famous abbey road studio 3. So i can check my mixes in a legendary studio enviroment, virtually. I also got the same with CLA Nx, that emulates the famous Mix LA Studio, where my favorite artist have been mixed.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I am inspired from very early on by Max Martin and his swedish collegues. His clean sound and great melodic songwriting approach are faszinating.
